I finished both of these...and while I enjoyed them...I didn't love them. The last few books that I have read have been loaded with flashbacks which I think I am getting tired of...The Dollhouse...more flashbacks!
This was a really good book about a transgender teen...sad and very insightful!
So...what am I in the mood for now?
Or...
Or...
Still deciding...
Hugs,
Patty
It does seem like flashbacks are being used a lot these days. I hope you're staying cool.
ReplyDeleteWe are but today it just poured all day long!
DeleteYou always find interesting books to read!!!
ReplyDeleteI think I do, too!
DeleteThe cover of The Dollhouse is so appealing... sorry you didn't love the book. Think I'd reach for The Light of Paris next. Which one did you choose?
ReplyDeleteLight Of Paris!
DeleteI can relate to disappointing reads...my current book, Tuesday Nights in 1980, is a snooze fest for me...with occasionally interesting parts.
ReplyDeleteI am curious about Bright, Precious Days, as I read his previous book. I hope you enjoy it.
I'm really late commenting...spent most of the afternoon with Fiona, putting together my bench, and then playing with my new external hard drive.
But those are good reasons!
DeleteI am not a fan of flashbacks so too many of them would totally turn me off.
ReplyDeleteI think that the last few books I have read have had flashbacks. I am starting to hate them.
DeleteThe Square Root of Summer looks good! Flashbacks can make me weary, too.
ReplyDeleteI am really starting to hate them!
DeleteGlad you have some brighter reads lined up. This is why I try to read a different genre each book because I know I'll get tired of certain elements. But lately I've been requesting books or putting holds and whatever comes up comes up which may mean the same genre.
ReplyDeleteI just didn't realize flashbacks were so popular!
