I Want My House In Order!
There is so much to do this time of year! Outside clean up and painting and planting and decking and just putting things in order...I am not sure why we added a kitchen update...but we did...
I can't tell you what a joy it was to eat a baked potato...last night's dinner...in a real bowl with a real fork...after three long weeks it was as though I saw my stuff for the first time...with new eyes...I love my plates and spoons and bowls...I missed them!
Den has literally been away for two weeks...I don't know if this made life easier or worse...
Tomorrow we need to get more knobs, pick out the tumbled marble for the wall and get chalk paint for the island.
Then stay home and make dinner at home...not sure when I want to go out to dinner again...lol...
This is tomorrow night's dinner...this is a Lamb Bolognese from Serious Eats. The actual recipe is on a site called Family Table.
Sunday has to be something Mexican for Cinco de Mayo...this is from Serious Eats, too.
I am sorry that I am not linking...I don't know how to do that on my iPad!
Reading this...I know...not on my list for this week but... I could not resist it.
It's a magical quest...and it's lovely...whenever I have to deal with reality...aka kitchen...I need a fantastic quest...and this is it...
Jack finds a rock...but of course you have to know it's not an ordinary rock...my favorite part so far is when his parents are tricked by the "bad guys" of course...into telling him he is not their real son...and there is Madame Puffin who has to speak in rhyme and so much more! I may even have a giveaway for this gem...middle grade readers should love this one!
Have a lovely Friday!

My First Lunch After A Three Week Break!
So yummy...I put it in a pan and heated it on my cooktop. Then I put it in a real bowl and ate it with a real spoon.
Heavenly!
So far nothing leaks...but I haven't run the dishwasher yet. I am not taking any chances!
I even changed out some knobs...but we need more...and we need to pick out the tumbled marble for the wall...then done...other than the floor! But I need a break so we will do that in a few weeks.
Reading this...a neighborhood, a little girl disappears, a mystery...
I am chilling out for the rest of today...I am exhausted!
Happy Thursday!

What's Up Today?
Today...I am eating grilled salmon and kale salad...courtesy of Whole Foods...I feel almost as though I cooked it!
It's my last take away dinner...yum!
I also bought eggs...there hasn't been an egg in the refrigerator for 3 weeks. I can not wait to fry an egg tomorrow. I bought great bread for toast to dip in my dippy eggs...I am egg obsessed!
Finished this book this morning...it was so good...it was the perfect combination of books, quirky characters, horrific fiancé, and love struck pregnant main character...Esme. It was a joyous reading experience. I hated when the book ended...it was that delicious. I don't think it's even out until August. But it's amazing. Everyone in the word should read it. You will thank me! Forever...
Up next...hmmm...I think one of these...I know I have said this before but it will be one of these...for sure...I think...
The girls are mad at me...they both got baths today...not even real ones...foamy organic spray...warm wet washcloths...towel dried and brushed...but they stomped off together and are not talking to me! These are their after bath looks...at me!
Nighty night! Sweet dreams!

Books!
Notice I am not talking about my kitchen...or the fact that I still don't have one that works!
This is what I chose to read yesterday...it's one of those lovely books...Esme is British and in NYC working on her PHD. She meets Mitchell, older, wealthy and she believes that they are in love until he tells her he isn't. The best part is that she was just about to tell him she is pregnant. She doesn't tell him...decides to have the baby...and gets a job in a lovely old bookstore called The Owl. The bookstore is owned and run by lots of quirky characters. This book is yummy! Just what I need for my kitchen less next two days!
I finished this yesterday...it was good! Funny, clever...written by one of the Gilmore girls...I seemed to be obsessed with books that occur in NYC lately!
So...this is sort of another lazy day...not in the mood to do much...not in the mood to go out...just sort of feeling laid back...and ready for running water!

Monday Morning!
Thinking of reading this...
or this...
or one of these...
I bought House Of Secrets because I love books like it...and I think that Chris Columbus directed a Harry Potter movie or two! I delight in "epic new fantasies". Yum!
The others came from Amazon Vine, NetGalley, and Edelweiss!
What are you up to today?

Will It Ever End?
We bought knobs! We forgot to count how many we needed so we bought 40...turns out we actually needed 52! I am not going to show them to you until the kitchen is all done someday! Hopefully!
We ate more bags of salad and chicken!
We yelled at each other because Den did not read the directions for closing the brand new kitty tent and almost broke it!
We bought the sink strainers.
I bought two Nation LTD shirts because I am out of sorts today...
We went to Fresh Market and bought dinner...roasted wine and herbed chicken breasts and baked beans and coleslaw...sort of a Sunday night picnic!
We also bought big huge chocolate cupcakes with tons of buttercream frosting because I am out of sorts today and can't imagine one more day without a kitchen.
Have I mentioned that I am out of sorts today?
Happy Sunday!
