Happy St. Patrick's Day?

I taught primary grades all over the country...I taught for 24.61 years.

I am geared to doing something special for holidays.

I feel the need to get bright green construction paper, a glue stick, glitter and some kid scissors and make a shamrock!!!

Or two...

I want to color some shamrocks, do shamrock math and solve a shamrock find-a-word...

But just today...

I am used to seeing adults wear shamrock earrings that light up and leprechaun sweatshirts or headbands with bobbling shamrocks that actually blink.

Really bobble and blink...

Whew!!! I Battled WordPress And Almost Won...

I could not comment on some of my favorite blogs that are powered by WordPress this week...are Google and WordPress mad at each other?

Hmmm...the time change has sort of changed my beloved Lucy Grace. She sleeps later...she is restless at night...she sees sun and believes she and I should be deck sitting.

We launched her kitty tent, mattress and lounge chair contraption weeks before we normally do.

Right now she is sitting on the sofa engaging me in a stare down. Next she will pace and yell...and knock framed photos off of tables. If that doesn't get her what she wants she will race upstairs, jump up on our bed and scream some more...it is driving Dennis crazy but I am used to it...lol...

One of my nieces contacted an animal behaviorist who is talking to Lucy and calming her down...hourly...

Hmmm...working...not working...working...

I think Lucy needs an intervention!!!

Or I do...

In spite of what I say I am reading...I am reading everything but that...
I just finished this...not sure if I loved it but it was interesting...

I Got Distracted...Seriously...

I had such firm goals this week...or so I thought...but who knew that we would turn on the ceiling fans, sit outside, grill and act as though it's almost summer?

Usually we have a snowstorm on March 15th...

I haven't even worn sweaters this year. So sad...I had some lovely new ones...I don't even think I wore a winter coat!!!

Or my favorite mittens...

Or a hat...

Anyway...here's the thing...I didn't read everything I wanted to but I still read...

I got distracted by weird stuff...like this ticket jar...it was on Pinterest and why haven't I ever done this...instead I tuck ticket stubs everywhere. Now I have to hunt for them...and try to find a rusty lidded jar...and we have been to some awesome events...and now we will have to go to even more to fill up my jar...



I also got distracted by this...and trying to figure out how tangled Lucy would get in this...



And how long it would take her to attack these...




And how soon she would claim this as her own...


But I love this stuff and could easily adjust our colors to these...

Anyway...today is Pasta Thursday...I think you might have to be a teeny bit Italian to understand this...lol...

I have sauce and pasta and meatballs ready for dinner.




And I am making focaccia later...

Lucy and I have great plans today...a walk through the hood...bird and squirrel and goose and duck and crow watching on the deck...

HasselBack Sweet Potatoes...Who Knew?

This is one...a "hasselback" potato...it was as if I was performing potato surgery on this bad boy...but it was so good...the most treacherous part was putting each sweet potato between two wooden spoon handles.

I had no clue what this meant until I actually did it. It simply prevents you from slicing through the potato...thank goodness I had spares...lol...

There are zillions of these recipes on line...mine came from a site called Willow Bird Baking.

You will have to google it...I still have no clue how to link from my iPad.

The potato is stuffed with a buttery goat cheese orange marmalade spread...I did not have orange marmalade...I would never have orange marmalade...ick...so I used a bit of apricot jam...

Yummy...

Still reading up a storm to finish my Vine books by Thursday...I love the Penny Vincenzi book...lots of characters...each with a great story...very 60's...I think...very Englsh...very much fun...

I Seriously Almost Forgot About My Blog Today...

Yawn!!!

I think I might have napped today but I was so busy...a friend and I went to a behind the scenes thing at our new Whole Foods...it's not open yet but this was a fun pre opening field trip!!!

The store was stocked but not officially open until Wednesday so it was off to another store for groceries...

Officially exhausted!!!

My reading goal this week is to finish my last four Amazon Vine books by 3 o'clock this Thursday.

Not sure if I will make it since I read nothing today!!!
Not one word!!!
And even now...when I could be reading...I am watching The Bachelor...even though I read somewhere that they have already broken up!!!

A Very Lazy Sunday...

We are so tired today because of three things...tax prep, time change, and the theatre.

Tax prep...ick...ick...double triple ick...and I don't even do it.

Time change...I hate springing forward...

Theatre...love/hate it...

We have a wonderful theatre not far from us in a hotel called the Hotel DuPont.

We have seen amazing off Broadway productions there...we love everything about it...it's not far away, it's easy parking, once you are in the hotel drinks and dinner can be very close if you want them to be. The theatre is intimate and quite lovely. We do it often but we often moan and groan about it when it comes to the actual day...we/I start the moaning and groaning with this serenade...we are too busy, we just want to stay home, why did we buy tickets...whatever...we/I can be whiny sometimes...but we always go and we always love it and we always buy tickets for another show...

Last night we saw George Hamilton in the show the Birdcage was based on...totally fun!!!








Loved it!!!
We/I have got to stop this whining and just go...and be happy.
