Reading & More!

Knitting!!!

I can't really knit. My sister is an amazing knitter and knits all of the time. She has knitted me the shawl I love and about 10 hats that I love. I can knit and I can purl and I think that doing those together is another kind of knitting stitch. Anyway...a few weeks ago I found this scarf that I fell in love with...I mean I love this scarf! My sister knew right away that it came from a site called WE ARE KNITTERS. Everything on the site is a kit and it's categorized by ability. This was in the easy category. Perfect for moi. Everything on this site is expensive. You would not believe me if I told you how much this scarf was. But they were having a sale! So after a brief consultation with my sister Paula...I bought it. And...because I was feeling brave and cocky...I bought this sweater kit, too! It was labeled easy so I decided I could handle it, too! Plus I love it and I imagined myself knitting more than one.

But then my sister reminded me about something I was previously unaware of called GAUGE. So both patterns are in the closet until I am brave enough to "gauge" my gauge! Sigh! Apparently you can't just knit! Plus I am so excited about both of these because they both use size 19 needles! These needles are HUGE! Can you knit a sweater in a day? I think I can!

I imagine I might have interference from...

Sigh...

Reading...

Fantasy, Russia, freezing cold mysterious and dangerous forests...and a girl who is different...I am just at the beginning and the girl...Vasya...is very young but the writing is lovely and the story quite fascinating.

What we are eating over the weekend...these are from damn delicious.

And this Turkey Chili from clean eating couple...

So...stay warm...and...have a great week end! See you on Monday!

Patty

So...

My craving for pasta runs deep this week. Adding Orzo to our chicken soup helped and making and doctoring up a box of Annie's Mac & Cheese helped. I love anything Annie's. Annie's Tomato Soup is awesome. Den and I mix tiny pasta in that, too! Adding butter and Parmesan Reggiano Cheese takes it over the top! We are both pasta crazy!

There is a recipe on Bon Appetit for pasta with an oven roasted tomato sauce. You use canned whole tomatoes and butter. I am trying it this weekend.

My fave canned tomatoes...

And lasagna...no bake noodle lasagna...there's a really simple recipe on Epicurious that uses three cheeses and spinach.

Finishing this momentarily...it was so good. I loved being in the midst of the complicated relationship of Evan and Julia...two not so nice millennials...at least I think they are millenials...the not so nice part I am sure about...especially Julia!

Up next...I think finally fantasy...

It's rainy here...we are in all day...Den is determined to clean the entire downstairs. I try to grant him his wishes...heeheehee.

Hugs,

Patty

Life...

So...books about NYC just seem to pull me in...this book is really great and beautifully written...it follows Ethan and Julia from college to living in NYC and their first jobs. Ethan is in finance...Julia is with a nonprofit. They appear to be madly in love but undercurrents of dissatisfaction with their relationship begin to show up. That's what makes this book delicious!

I can't stand it! The February Buzz Book is out on NetGalley! I will be perusing mine momentarily.

I have discovered that Den believes that a food expires on its expiration date. He systematically goes through the fridge and tosses that food out! My best macaroni and cheese is with cheese that might be a day or two past its expiration! He tossed out an artisanal pizza dough that was a few days expired! Am I wrong? I continue to try to tell him that one day or two is ok!

Den! Leave the cheese alone!

I feel myself yearning for fantasy...I have a selection and have not even opened one up yet! Soon...all of these are said to be amazing!

My goal today is to make a cheese sauce before Den gets to the refrigerator!

Hugs,

Patty

Books! Naps! Soup!

I finally settled back on this and I love it!

New books...I think all are from Edelweiss.

From Goodreads...

"A sparkling debut about love, family, and the mysteries of the universe."

From Amazon...
“Historical fiction, forbidden romance, and a coming-of-age tale combine into a memorable story.” (School Library Journal)

Naps...this is how these two nap! Roxie somersaults off of Den's head to get there.

The Barefoot Contessa's Chicken Noodle Soup!

So easy...so good! We used orzo instead of big noodles. It really made Den feel better!

Off to read!

Hugs,

Patty
