Saturday Stuff!

Don't you just love the feeling of opening a book and reading the first few pages and knowing...with your entire being...that this is the book you were meant to read?

This is one of those books...sigh! Thank goodness I feel that way about tons of books!



This is dinner...linguini, bacon, asparagus, flaked Parmesan chees...thank you to "gimme some oven" food blogger!





Den is exhausted after his long journey home...we are having a laid back kind of day here...windows open...deck time...reading!

Stuck!

Den has been trying to get home from Minneapolis since yesterday...the President's fund raising, storms, and mechanical difficulties have all stopped him. He is at the airport again now and apparently Nancy Pelosi is now in his path...he is not a fan...and this situation is literally too funny for words. I was so hoping he would get here in time to empty the dishwasher but now I doubt it...sigh! He is exhausted and keeps telling me he has gained 5 pounds in two days...sigh...and he either has a cold or is having an allergy attack. Who knew so much could happen in two days...I think I need to make chicken soup!












Yesterday I roasted a turkey breast and potatoes, made corn and cranberries for his welcome home after two days away dinner...that never happened...today the girls and I are still lounging upstairs reading. Sigh!

Just finished this...I was in the mood for fantasy...it was so good...I am about to attack the second one soon.












I am starting this now...a yummy crime novel by a Scottish author...it's about a killer called the Christmas Killer! Yum!

What I Should Be Doing...

I should be out getting groceries...but I am not in the mood.

I should be vacuuming...but I am not in the mood for that either!

Den has been in Minneapolis all week...giving a speech and watching the river rise from his hotel room. He loves to walk the Mall Of America and then eat sushi. I should be planning dinner and shopping for dinner here but I am too lazy today!




I should be driving around hills and dales to get to Glen Willow but I don't feel like it. They have fresh New Jersey blueberries this week plus tons of other stuff...local cherries, too! And their cantaloupes have been so good!











I am even between books...I should be reading one of these but I might watch a movie instead!







I think even Roxie and Lucy are undecided about their day! What is this move? Lol!



Oh well...I hope you aren't having the same kind of indecisive day as I am!

Decks...Too Many Pillows...And Of Course, Books!

This is the time of year when I love to sit out on the deck and read! Kids are fishing on the pond...catching the same huge catfish over and over again but having so much fun. One of the neighbors has a small boat for the pond. It's nice to see so much activity from our deck. There are herons and ducks and sea birds! Snapping turtles and snakes, too! Yikes!

This is the side of the deck that we spend the most time on...my sweet little sectional is perfectly comfy and stays shady.




The chairs are comfy, too but they are in the sun for much of the afternoon.



Roxie loves sitting out here with me.


A sweet little princess resting on her pillow. She watches birds and ducks. Lucy hates the tent...hates it...so...we sometimes let her out...but she is slow enough to catch and she sits on one of the chairs...and naps...



This is the view to the other deck but it is freaky hot on that side...no shade at all! I have desert plants and herbs growing in big pots down there...


The problem is putting all the pillows away if it is going to rain...Den usually does it but I had to do it yesterday...one outdoor bin is not enough to hold all of the pillows so I have them stacked on the dryer. Trust me...they reach almost to the ceiling!

Loving this book about quirky lives...a quest...and a bookstore!


The girls are totally napping while I read! When they wake up...they will wander downstairs and sit by the island and wait for their lunch presentation. Then they will both wander to the back door and wait for me to prep the deck for them...pillows, kitty tent, etc...however...today looks iffy...we are supposed to get rain and storms...so...I will have to open the door at least three times while holding Roxie...and allow Lucy to step out into the rain...finally believe me...and come back in again.

Treadmill reading is my newest love...time flies by! This just pops on over my board and I can work out for hours! Well...not really hours but time does go by quickly! I bought this at Amazon.

And this...kimono...from Free People...I really want a kimono!

Books!

Finished this...very enjoyable...an overbearing husband and a lovely artistic wife who paints everything shabby chic white. Of course they have a snarky teen daughter...dabbling in boys and booze. And a sister living in their cottage...of course they have a cottage that is also outfitted in shabby chic...sigh! And it's in South Carolina so everybody has that lovely soft accent...sigh! But...the husband lies...and...well...let's just say it's fun and a nice light summer book. But I promise you this...you will not like the husband...Southern gentleman or not!






I started this...and it's quirky good...shameless Lucy photo with book...I really think she is slowing down...sigh...tears...heartbreaking...but I was up late and didn't want the light on so I started Big Little Lies...on my Kindle.



It is so good I can't see straight. I just want to read and read and read to find out who did what to whom! You just can't trust preschool moms! Lol!

Why We Don't Move On Sunday!

Ha...ha...ha...it's simple...Den goes out and gets papers and Starbucks...sometimes he stops at Talulah's Table for a slice of frittata and the most amazing cinnamon rolls with cream cheese icing ever! He did that this morning.

We sit and read the papers for hours! The kitties nap! We binge watch stuff we have missed...Fargo and Game Of Thrones in particular...then we discuss dinner...this is what we are having tonight. Pasta, olives, tuna from Simply Recipes...yum!






In spite of all of this being so pleasant...Den continues to ask me what I want to do...I continue to say...nothing!

We might talk about lunch...fresh tacos from Red Sombrero...minutes away.







I will read...Den will fall asleep. The girls will come down for lunch...they do this every day...they sit next to the island and wait quietly for their yummy bites!


Plus we had a late night date night last night and we are pleasantly tired...Den more than me...he was trying to scowl at me...lol...a total impossibility!







That's our Sunday!
