Love this book...this author has a way of weaving characters in the past as well as the present that is totally addictive. This is the story of Annabelle during WWII. She loves Stefan...a married Jewish man...but marries Johann...a German man with possible ties to Nazis. It's interwoven with the more current Pepper's story...pregnant single Pepper. I can't begin to tell you how good this book is. Pepper and Annabelle are connected because of an old classic Mercedes.

Sharing a snack...on my desk...sharing a bed...for 5 minutes...I do not get how sweet Lucy can be to Roxie and then minutes later growl and hiss at her. My poor sweet Roxie falls for this every time. I love my Lucy but I think she enjoys having this kind of power over Roxie.

Why we don't go to the Mushroom Festival...crowds, heat, crowds!
It is a gorgeous day today. Den is taking Lucy to cold laser in a moment...is the irritation worth helping her arthritic knees? She has been zooming around the house...jumping almost the way she used to...we put glucosamine in her food, too, so I don't have a clue what's helping...she doesn't limp any more but even the vet doesn't know what is helping. Sigh! Our little area will be a mess this week end...there are festivals every where. We are staying very close to home all weekend long but with open windows, cooler air, and tons of football ( Den ) and books ( me )...and a short trip next week...we don't really care!
