Reading this...it is everything a book like this should be...Kara and her brother Taff...sweet "almost" orphans living in a village that despises and hates them. Their mother was tried as a witch and their father is a shell of himself. Taff is sick...Kara is bullied at school by a horribly clever classmate. Everyone in the village is waiting for the witch side of Kara to make itself known. Plus the Thickety...the scary forest part of the village is getting closer and closer to everyone. This book is so good. I am invested in Kara...she is what is holding her family together.
Possibly up next? I am in a fantasy kind of mood!
Happy Reading!
I was checking out Edelweiss, a dangerous thing to do usually but didn't find a darn thing I wanted. I have enough to read anyway. I am waiting for The Abominable to get scary but at 100 pages in, it's not there yet.
ReplyDeleteI hate changing clothes - I think that's why I don't like spring and fall. I know it's strange.
ReplyDeleteIt is so hard to get the reading in, and then the reviews written! I have a few unique ones coming up. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI like the word "thickety."
ReplyDeleteI have been lazy today, too; I Skyped with my son in Berlin for an hour-and-a-half, starting at 7:30 a.m. to mesh with his time period nine hours later.
Then I read a little...and watched the show Damages on Netflix for several hours. Now I just posted a review of Woman on Top at Rainy Days and Mondays.
Time to read again!
I don't have as much laundry as you do; usually only two loads to wash and dry per week. I do recall doing laundry for four kids and a husband, once upon a time...that's why I love being lazy now...lol
Glad you are getting to take a day for you. I am always amazed by laundry- it is a chore that never ends.
