This is a weird summer...first the roof...and we couldn't plant what we normally do because everything was going to be in disarray or covered or ruined. After the roof was done painters were scheduled to sweep in and paint the trim on the house and stain the decks...that was started and stopped because of weather and heat and schedules...resumed this week and still not done because of weather and heat...yesterday a lone painter came before everyone else to get a jump start on the approaching rain...and it rained within 5 minutes of his arrival.
So we have a half stained deck empty of all of its pretty furniture! No flowers, no grill, no swing...no place to sit and read and watch the pond. Just half stained wood.
Sigh! Sad! Very sad...
So...my point to myself...is...we usually have tons of flowers, we spend time on the deck and it's midsummer and we haven't even put out half of our deck furniture and what we did put out is back in the basement while the deck gets done.
Let's take my parents...my mom was an obsessive cleaner...my dad was an obsessive shopper.
Let's take my siblings...my sister is obsessive about knitting and buying yarn, one brother buys wine...cases and cases of it, my youngest brother...not sure...fishing things? When he is not traveling the world for work...he loves to fish.
I personally might be obsessive about lots of things...clothes, shoes, things being aligned in order, checking a hotel room way too much before leaving...the usual!
This brings me to the pets of obsessive people. I truly think that my lovely Tonkinese kitty is obsessive about these toys!
And the way she insists we play with them...three together and only upstairs! She also sits at the top of the stairs and yells when she thinks it's play time! Hmmm... Ti...Book Chatter...told me about these on Etsy and Lucy has loved them ever since. Lol...
Finished this...really good.
Starting this...really good!
More workers are here for outside deck staining and painting! Trapped inside for the day! Help!!!
This is dinner...yum! Spinach, roasted chicken and crispy potatoes...it's a salad! Martha's idea...
Finished this...what a shocker...a vintage sort of creepy thriller...wow...
Finished this...fast paced, loaded with family drama, bad people and an island...really read this into the night...so good!
Starting this...and it's described as a novel of suspense featuring Mary Russell and Sherlock Holmes...I love anything Sherlock Holmes...have you watched the latest BBC Sherlock? If not...it's good...very good...Season 1 and Season 2 and I think there will be a Season 3.
This is BBC's Sherlock...both seasons are so good...
Today is a pretty ordinary day...I am dealing with a returning Den who lost his new iPhone, a total absence of food in the house and a mountain of laundry!
I need to find something to make for dinner that can be popped out and eaten at any time and stuff for interesting lunches for the week!
I am kind of not in the mood to make a Whole Foods run...so I am planning on the produce place and the great little grocery store...very local...next door to help me out.
The Produce Place makes these great vegetable cups...loaded with carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, peppers, cucumbers, pea pods, celery...crisp and fresh...and you can buy little cups of their house made hummus for dipping. I get them for lunch whenever I go there.
Take this one...takes place just after WWII...two cousins...two dysfunctional relationships with their husbands...it is one of those books that I love from its opening pages. One couple heading off to LA...the other sitting at 21 in NYC and all they can afford for dinner are two martinis, a bowl of olives, and a bowl of celery.
My kind of dinner! I will finish this one today...it's another yummy summer book! With lots of bite to it!
