For some reason I have an overload of new YA to read...and here they are! Some are real and sad...some are real and funny, some are fantasy...one is based on a real life incident. I love reading these in the summer.
"A delightful and enchanting novel that uses sly wit and assured style to subvert expectations while it always, unfailingly, entertains. I loved it!" —Kate Elliott, author of the Spiritwalker series
"What We Saw is a smart, sensitive, and gripping story about the courage it takes to do what’s right. If you’re looking for your next favorite YA author, look no further. Aaron Hartzler’s got what it takes." (Deb Caletti, National Book Award Finalist for HONEY, BABY, SWEETHEART)
"Fresh, funny, and full of heart: not to be missed." (Kirkus Reviews (starred review))
"A beautifully written story about two teens who find each other in spite of what might seem like insurmountable problems." (Examiner.com (5 star review))
Actually...after I finished this yesterday and thought about it more...the last part of it was really good...really good...which makes me wonder why I wasn't into most of it...hmmmm...
Sorry it's not a good week! At 11am we had a heat index of 102 outside so the hot and crabby is everywhere. My kitties are sleeping it off...hope yours get in a better mood soon!
ReplyDeleteMe, too!
DeleteWe're having a really hot summer so I feel your pain.
ReplyDeleteThe non-fantasy books look really good!
I thought so, too! This heat is just stifling!
DeleteI hope it cools off soon for you. Looks like you have some good books to read in the AC!
ReplyDeleteIt has been 105-109 all week! I am hoping the air conditioning keeps on working!
ReplyDeleteI have never read anything by Patrick Ness, but others rave about him. I am curious about What We Saw.
Stay cool!
It's always hot here, sigh...and yea, it's a dry heat but it's still heat and it can feel like a wall of hot pressure on you when you go out. And getting in the car after it's been sitting in a parking lot, yikes! I still hear on the news of folks who leave their kids and pets in the car, even if for just a "few minutes". Hope people wise up and realize how painful and deadly that is!
ReplyDeleteStay cool with your cool readings. I like YA if it's fantasy, so I'm copying those titles down.
