There were parades for opening the park, closing the park and every holiday you can imagine.
At the drop of a hat there would be baton twirling high school majorettes, the high school band, at least one fire truck, scouts both boy and girl and the mayor of McDonald sitting in a convertible tossing candy...which my mother would never let us touch even though it was wrapped...
Every parade ended with the police chief and his siren or kids riding decorated bicycles and tricycles...a stash of crepe paper at home was a given.
I love parades...we are off to find one today...I have a secret stash of crepe paper ribbons for Lucy's stroller...I am an expert at small vehicle decorating!!!
Happy Memorial Day!!!

ReplyDeleteI wish I would have!
DeleteI wish that I did, too!
DeleteAw good luck parade hunter ;)
ReplyDeleteThat is me...parade hunter downer!!!
DeleteI love parades too! The Snowman Parade was always a huge event where I grew up. My all-time favourite parade ever is the one I saw at Disney World. Good luck on your quest :)
ReplyDeleteOooh....I want to see that one!!!
DeleteOh, now that you mention it, I do recall small town parades and how much fun they are. Here, I'd have to get in the car to go downtown...or to the downtown area of the smaller, neighboring town.
ReplyDeleteI especially loved the Fourth of July parades...but Memorial Day would be good, too. Enjoy!
Small towns...you just have to love them!
DeleteYou have a fabulous blog! I’m an author and illustrator and I made some awards to give fellow bloggers whose sites I enjoy. I want to award you with one of my homemade awards: Creative Blog Award. There are no pass along requirements. This is just to reward you for all the hard work you do!

Thank you so much!!!
DeleteThat so sweet!!!
It sounds like a novel or a movie. Does this exist anymore?
ReplyDeleteMy little town does not ever change...if anything they have even more parades!
DeleteThat bike looks fabulous. I can't believe I am saying this- but I have never been in a parade- nor have I watched one. My family was always either away or busy on parade days. My nephew was in a parade today- but I didn't find out until after it was over. I hope to get to a parade this year- they always look so fun on tv and in movies. :)
ReplyDeleteYou need to run to the next parade!!!
DeleteNo parades here, either. Those parades you mentioned sound like the ones we used to have in the Cleveland suburbs, growing up there was a lot of fun and great memories!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jane, my most favorite is the Walt Disney Parade, and watching the fireworks at Disney!...the BEST
