One last technician has come and gone...Den is out mowing and I am relaxing...we woke up to this beauty out on the deck! Right next to Roxie's tent!
Reading this...and really enjoying it!
This blurb is from Amazon...
"The New York Times bestselling author of Before I Fall and the Delirium trilogy makes her brilliant adult debut with this mesmerizing story in the tradition of The Lovely Bones, Her Fearful Symmetry, and The Ocean at the End of the Lane—a tale of family, ghosts, secrets, and mystery, in which the lives of the living and the dead intersect in shocking, surprising, and moving ways..."
It's Pasta Thursday! I am sautéing tiny pieces of pancetta in a pan with a teensie bit of fresh garlic...then I am adding a container of homemade ( from New Jersey) sauce...simmering it...and tossing imported Italian rigatoni into the pan...I add fresh basil to the plates...lots of freshly grated imported Pecorino Romano cheese...and we have dinner! I saw this recipe on an Anthony Bourdain travel show and it's become one of our favorites!
There is a similar recipe on the Barilla site...this pasta is just so good!
It's taken just a teensie bit of time to get used to this book but the author is very skillful at allowing the story to unfold. I didn't even need to check back into the book...the moment I had a question about who, what, or why anything was happening...it was answered. I love when this happens...I love books like this. So...one story is about a young YA author...living in NYC to polish her book and write its sequel. The other part is the actual book that she wrote. If it sounds confusing...it truly isn't. It's a big thick fat book and after chores...I will spend the day with it.
Do you love chopped salads? I do love chopped salads and I want one today! This is sort of a Barbecued Chicken Chopped Salad...from Faith From The Kitchn. Yum!
Today is a day without any appointments...well...one...late afternoon...but I am postponing...I need a free day!
Whew...a new week and I am again waiting for service people...hopefully today is the last day for a while...but I am stuck in the house all day long...we had workers in yesterday, too! I know...on Sunday! But we updated all of our DVR boxes and simplified our operating systems...all televisions have one remote...hurrah! We can see DVR'd stuff in any room on any TV...and the Xfinity 1 system is great...we are ready for guests! But yesterday involved lots of dusting and clean up...we were all so tired!
Finished this...a three novella intertwining book that was very good...set mostly in Provence...gardens, scents, perfumes and the Resistance...sad, too, but lovely.
Still reading this and reserving judgement...the 60's...integration...and funny charming over the top maids! This is on my Kindle so I read it at night when I wake up and can not get back to sleep!
Reading this in true book form...it's pretty much YA wonderful...grabbed me from it's opening pages!
Some other new books...a mixture of under realms, Victorian London, middle age fun and murder! Yum!
And...the best news of all...Roxie Blue is back to normal! Her perky peppy kitty self!
