On To Book 4...

There is just no stopping now…Rachel Caine ends each book…so far…in such a way as to ensure that you will be moving on to the next book. And I am.



I truly believe that Book 3 is the best one so far. In this book, Claire has signed herself over to Amelie…the queen, empress, whatever of all of the vampires in Morganville. Claire does not realize the effect of what she has done until she is required to take extra classes with a demented insane yet sometimes appealing vampire named Myrnin…who has worked his way through about 6 assistants so far with not a one living to tell the tale. I sort of still yearned for an Edward kind of vampire but the author supplies a similar character by providing us with Michael. He is awesomely beautiful and so far kind and gentle. Oliver the meanie vampire remains the meanie vampire in this book. I can just imagine various villainous actors who might play this role…just in case there is a movie.



I digress…the book is action packed and fun and exciting and I love staying with each of these characters for the duration of these books. The characters are undergoing changes and growing and I am very happy reading about every frightening scary and life threatening ordeal that they go through.  Oh...and the above enticing Goth accoutrement...party wear for a very important scene in the story...

Yummylicious Summer Reading...

Total total excitement overcame me yesterday while perusing this article online in the New York Post.  Summer really begins for me when certain authors release their new summer books.  I can't imagine a summer without reading something totally dysfunctional by Jane Green and Nancy Thayer and Claire Cook.  The dysfunction in these books is usually absorbing and maddening and fascinating and carries you through summer days on a deck or a porch or in a hammock...there is nothing like it for me.  The New York Post list is a really good one and includes previews of books by Ann Brashares, Lauren Weisberger ( Devil Wears Prada ), Bret Easton Ellis, and many many more...you should really check it out!!!

Ok...I am hooked...

I don't get it...I am not normally a creature of habit.  I hate schedules and routines and doing things the same way.  There are months when we never have the same thing for dinner twice.  And yet...I am entrenched in Morganville.  I swore to myself that I was only going to read the first two books and then stop and switch to something else.  But the second book...I just finished it...was really good...spunky Claire is getting to me.  I love the bad guy vamps in this series...bye bye Edward and hello Oliver.  Whew...these books are quite a ride and I am tearing through them.  I no sooner finished The Dead Girl's Dance when I found myself on auto pilot whispernetting Books 3 and 4 and 5.  I thought that there were only 6 books in this series but I just hopped over to Amazon and there are no less than 9 books in this series...OMG!!!  Unless I can drastically and quickly change my habit of reading every book in a series until the series ends...I will be in Morganville for the next two weeks.  Fixated,  speedreading, and moving on to the next book the minute I finish the last one.  I blame Rachel Caine for this...she has this unique habit of ending each book in such a way that you cannot live your life as you formerly knew it until you find out what happens next.

Truly A Town Without Pity...

Hmmm…I do have a soft spot for anything vampirey. But I am a bit particular about the vampires I love. They have to have some admirable qualities. I am thinking mostly of Bella’s Edward…there is not one thing wrong with that vampire at all. I also sort of liked the vampires in the Blue Blood series. They too seemed to have some redeemable qualities. Even some of the half vampires in Lily St. Crow’s Strange Angels book…I am thinking of Christophe in particular…a sort of half vampire…were likeable and maybe even had a little bit of good in them. But I had no clue what I was getting into when I began reading Glass Houses which is the first book in the Morganville Vampire Series. I know that everyone most likely has already read these but they are totally new to me and my first experience with really bad nasty horrible sneaky vampires who are not afraid to show their fangs at the first sign of a tussle with a human. Glass Houses is about a town where people live sort of side by side with vampires. Some people are protected and some are not. Humans donate blood to a blood bank in order to keep the vampires full and happy. Rules are established and everyone lives in peace…sort of…and then Claire comes to town. She is bullied in her dorm and needs an escape and thus encounters the Glass House. Her roommates are protective yet very strange…and have many secrets. It is up to Claire to find a very special book that the vampires want in order to save herself and her friends. The book is rather exciting…I was speeding through it…and the ending sent me scurrying off to Book 2…



I really liked this book…spunky Claire was a hoot and the other characters were all quirky and flawed enough to keep me reading at a really fast pace. In spite of not wanting to read Book 2 right away…I am…

I Love This Award.

June just gave me a very beautiful blog award.  This means so much to a newbie blogger like me. She is wonderful and she knows how much her support has meant to me.  As soon as I figure out how to post the award...I will...right now you just have to imagine it!!!

Baked...this one is a cookbook and really good.  It is from a NYC bakery.  Their brownies are supposed to be magnificent. 

Now the next part is a little difficult for me...I have been reading and enjoying so many blogs that I don't know how to really choose five to give an award to.  I just don't feel qualified yet.  But I am going to try to share blogs that I really enjoy.  I am still sort of bouncing around all over about a million blogs and slowly getting to know them.  So here we go!!!



My favorite newly found blog...E.J.Stevens.  Her blog is deep and dark and mysterious and full of lovely fantasy.  She is also an author.

I also love Allison.  Her blog is full of all things Maine.  Gardens and photos and food and recipes.  It is delightful.


Manda is also a unique and new blogger.  We started blogging at about the same time and she is always there to answer tech questions for me.  She has a goal to reach this year and she is bound and determined to blog daily.   I am making her a pillow with stars...her fav...and she is very patient.

Heidi has a healthy food journal blog.  I have followed her for years and love her writing, ideas and recipes.

Steena also has a blog that I love.  It is clean and fresh and she writes beautifully.  I am an admirer of her blog in all of its chocolatey goodness.


So...that should do it.  I follow far too many blogs and have lots of blog envy but I feel myself growing and learning from so many people.  Just a quick and sincere thank you to all of you.
