What To Read Next?

I think I will start this one...I had a lot of false starts this week end and couldn't focus on one book...until this one...and I am not really focusing on this one yet although I just finished the first few chapters and I will stick with it.

Today is also a day when Den wants to work on the basement...I am not in the mood for that either but he has hired a trash company who will totally carry every piece of trash out of the basement. You could not find two people more excited about this!

I feel as though I have lost a few days! I had a fever over the week end and I think I slept all day long on Saturday...maybe even Sunday...whew!

Den and I have become addicted to Anthony Bourdain's Parts Unknown and although we didn't realize this about each other...we are BINGE WATCHERS!

This is scary!

I am also watching a British Show on Netflix called The Bletchley Circle...it is soooo good...it's like reading a really great English novel. It's based on the lives of four women who were decoding stuff for the government...stuff that had to do with Hitler but now it's 8 years later and they are married or mothers or not married and not mothers but all of them are kind of restless. Again...kind of like grown up Nancy Drews...but done in that amazing British style and filled with danger. They interconnect so I watched the first four...I am prepping myself to watch the fifth one because one of the four meets the killer face to face...yikes!

Ok...l finally feel like me again! But I am tired...I was able to get a manicure and a pedicure today from my good friend My...we hug we cry she makes my toes and hands pretty. It's so relaxing but when I come home I am exhausted...I still can't get past the exhaustion, how cold I always am and my sad sad hair...I will never be able to fully talk to you about that...I am so vain...you probably think that's the bad thing about me...and it is...I am trying to prevent the fever that might come tomorrow...if I get a fever tomorrow I go to the office 5 minutes away...if I get it on Sunday...it's the ER! I am already freaking out!

I have been writing this post since last Friday!

Hugs,

Patty

Books...Weekends...Football...Books!

Finished this but I clearly don't know how I feel about the ending!

Just read this...in Prevention...

"There’s a strong connection between reading and longevity, says Sublett. Reading is an enjoyable way to stimulate your mind, plus it may actually help you live longer, according to a study from Social Science and Medicine. Individuals who read books for up to three and a half hours or more per week were 17 percent less likely to die over 12 years than non-readers. People who read even more than that were up to 23 percent less likely to die."

We can never stop reading!

Don't you think we have this one? I am so propping a book in Den's hands every night! And forcing him to read for at least 15 minutes before he falls asleep...he can...but he tends to fall asleep!

Books again...some week end options...

I find myself choosing lighter books over the weekend because of football. I want to read while we watch college games on Saturday and NFL games on Sunday. But it has to be lighter reading because Den does not watch any game quietly! So...I am pondering these...but the only light one is the Jenny Colman one...

An almost selfie! No cooperation from Roxie!

So...have an awesome weekend!

Hugs as always...

Patty

Whoa! I Failed To Blog Yesterday!

But...I had a really good reason...I can barely put this book down! You might be wondering why...so...here are my key points! I would do anything you can to grab up this book!

  1. The chapters are relatively short and once at the end of each chapter you feel compelled to read on!
  2. The writing flows!
  3. This author writes a captivating story!
  4. The characters...are so pathetically flawed!
  5. One character is so stupid and selfish that I want to scream...notice I am not giving anything away!

The only problem with this book is that I will be in a slump about what to read next!

This...or...

Perhaps this?

What we are cooking this week end...because...

this past week was a tough chemo week...it's not the chemo side affects of that show Thirty Something? It's more achy, bitchy, crying...when everyone around me is telling me to be happy...but I had a double dose of the treatment and my little body suffers! This past Wednesday I had a really small short treatment and so far I feel awesome...and I want to cook, bake, sauté, dance, and fire up my new slowcooker! So...I am making...

...easy bread from Port and Fin...filled with Goat Cheese, Caramelized Onions and Spinach!
An Italian Minestrone!

A Slow Cooker Mexican Lasagna from 100 Days Of Food!

And to make up for my 'roid rage I am making Den my Grandmother's sautéed chicken that he loves! It's sautéed in one pan with carrots and potatoes and shallots and is totally yummy!
So...that's my Thursday! Hopefully you are having a great one!
Hugs,
Patty

What To Read Next...

It's not about not having choices...I have far too many choices...it's what I am in the mood for. Lately there has been some weirdly odd twist in every book I think I want to read that makes me shelve it...for now. I am not in the mood for YA or Fantasy...and usually I can count on these to help me make a decision. I really think it might be that one book on Overdrive that I have been "next" for...for the last week! Again...my love/hate with Overdrive!

Well...what do you know...while I was composing this...the book I was next for actually came to me! Yahoo! This is what I will be reading next...

Thank you Overdrive! Finally!
What am I hungry for? For some odd reason I think I can eat a Cheeseburger and French Fries...I am toying with Wendy's but I worry about the source of the meat on the hamburger so that's probably out...
I need the Cheeseburger to be organic...and this is totally weird...I want a Seaweed Salad for dinner...salads have not appealed to me and I am supposed to be careful about washing veggies...but a Seaweed Salad? I think I can handle that...and dumplings and cooked sushi...like tempura sushi...regular sushi is out for me for a long time.
I just saw this cookbook!
I just bought this cookbook!
I love soups!
Off to think about French Fries and why I want them!
Hugs,
Patty

The Weekend And Into Monday!

So...I read and enjoyed this...YA readers should enjoy the strong female character...Charlotte Holmes...a descendant of Sherlock. However every time I read anything Sherlockian...the only Sherlock who comes to mind is this one...sigh!

This one...

And now he is in this which I can't go to see because theatres are too "germy" for me right now...sigh...it's ok...I keep telling myself this is a temporary glitch in my life and I can do this...I can do this!

So...the week end was not promising as far as outings but the good thing is that I really do love our house and we are making it even more comfy and loveable...new oversized family room furniture...new blinds in the family room to keep out too much sun...we are getting a bigger TV for the family room and moving our family room TV to our bedroom. We have Netflix and tons of books to read...treadmill and weights in the basement and a stepping machine...a TV and Yoga tapes and weights there, too. Our bedroom is big and comfy and now one of my favorite places to be. There is a soft blanket to snuggle in on my new bedroom chair. It's just how my life has to be for a few months. I seriously can't imagine going out into crowds in cold and flu season...it scares me! As soon as I get really hungry again we will go to dinner but not on the weekends. I ache for Den...who bears all of this with me. He shares it...he runs out for anything I crave...he does everything for Lucy and Roxie...I can't go near litter. He is my knight...my prince...my sweet sweet boy. He insists on sitting with me during chemo...on hard chairs...that hurt his back and his "man parts"...but he does it for me. I treasure that love and hold it in my heart.

So...Overdrive did a total redo of their system and I swear on one book I got bumped to 104! 104 lovely readers are ahead of me for this book...I have it on Audible but it puts me to sleep! 104 readers with two weeks each to read this book? Will it be years before I get to borrow it? Oh my!

I swear Lucy and Roxie are my guardian angels...they are either in my lap or watching me carefully!

Lap...
Watching...

And my life goes on...

I think I will read this next...

Or this...

Or this...

Not sure...I will decide later...

Hugs,

Patty
