Wednesday...Wins And Losses...

Made little pizzas...they were awesome... I cannot get a big pizza to bake in my oven...mostly because I am afraid to turn it up to 450!!! That even sounds scary...
So I have been making small free form ones...and they have been awesome!

Caramelized onion, potato and goat cheese...

Regular...ok...this pan looks horrible but it's my favorite one...it might have been my mom's...

I am not ever using silicone cupcake holders ever again...plus Den didn't realize I wanted them and tossed them in the trash like paper! And then tried to deny it!

Love my nails...

Love this book...

We have decided that Wednesday is our play day...either a movie day or lunch day...today was a go out to lunch day...we each only ate half of our lunches and we can't move! Den had a braised lamb, bacon, potato, spinach and onion burrito that was massive! I had a grilled ham and Swiss cheese with French mustard and Tupelo honey...so good! Mine came with a little basket of frites...truffled and Parmesaned...oh my!

Happy Wednesday!

It Snowed All Night...Apparently!

I have a love/ hate for waking up to snow...I feel as though I have missed something when I wake up and the ground is covered and it's stopped snowing. Plus I still check school closings...and cheer when my school closes. I have no clue why...

Making this for lunch...

We are probably staying in today...it is a kind of snowy slide-y slipp-y mess outside.

Thinking of an incredible easy pasta for dinner...snowy cold days make me think we need pasta...this one in particular.

Both of these recipes are from Bon Appetit and were on Facebook today...how perfect!

Reading this later today...

From Amazon...

"From New York Times bestselling author Cynthia Hand comes a gorgeous and heart-wrenching story of love, loss, and letting go.

Since her brother, Tyler, committed suicide, Lex has been trying to keep her grief locked away, and to forget about what happened that night. But as she starts putting her life, her family, and her friendships back together, Lex is haunted by a secret she hasn't told anyone—a text Tyler sent, that could have changed everything.

In the tradition of Jay Asher's Thirteen Reasons Why, Gayle Forman's If I Stay, and Lauren Oliver's Before I Fall, The Last Time We Say Goodbye is a thoughtful and deeply affecting novel that will change the way you look at life and death."

Stay warm!

It's A....Brrrrr...Bookish...Brrrrr...Monday! Brrrrr! It's Freezing!

So...today...it's all about books and staying warm...Den just took Lucy to her cold laser treatment...we heated blankets in the dryer to keep her carrier warm...Roxie and I are relaxing and reading...soup is what's for dinner tonight and we have been sipping tea all day. It is cold out there! Our sump pump was making weird noises but Ron The Plumber said the water is frozen and just to turn it off and wait. We can't open our front door...it's frozen, too. Den says he can't get warm. It's supposed to snow tonight but so far nothing is happening. I still can't believe that we did not lose power over the week end...

Roxie relaxing...

That's my frigid winter account...so far...

Reading and pretty much not loving this...certain things in books make me queasy...and this book has them all...

This is up next...I am developing a keen interest in WWI historical fiction.

These are on my virtual shelves...

I read this author's books eons ago...and loved them...

This reminded me of JoJo Moyes...and Rainbow Rowell...

This one is YA...which I am enjoying less and less lately...

This one says family secrets...

So...that's my Monday. Lucy just came flying up the stairs to tell me about her treatment...lol...

Happy Reading!

The Aftermath Of The Storm!!!

We...or rather Den...actually took the huge new generator out of the box...read the directions, filled a bathtub with water...just in case...cancelled dinner out because of gusty winds and snow...slept fitfully through the night...the sound of the wind was freaking us out...and now...today...we are lying around...exhausted. I actually moved into a guest bedroom at 3:30 in the morning...our bedroom has vaulted ceilings...and the sound of the wind in our room was unbelievable. Of course all kitties came with me...and since it was a different room...they explored, knocked stuff off of dressers...chased each other and finally collapsed on me where we slept...sort of...

It is so cold here...we can't remember it ever being this cold! Brrrrrrr!!!

Read me some YA...lol...although I'm Glad I Did was like a trip into the 60's...the author is part of a famous husband and wife songwriting ream. One of their songs is You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'...a Righteous Brothers hit. They were profiled on Sunday Morning last week and I didn't realize I had the book! The book is part rock and roll and part murder mystery with a bit of race relations thrown in...it was good.

We are doing nothing today...the wind has just finally stopped howling and we still have power! Whew!

Happy Sunday!

Oh No! Don't Snow!

We really have not had any real amounts of snow here this year. The forecasters scare us...and everybody races to the store to get supplies...we prep the generators...and then nothing happens. The really bad part of living where we live is that it is so easy for the power to go out. Overhead power lines...wind...a good nor'easter and we all have our headlamps on.

So...we have lucked out this year...until tonight...Valentine's Day Dinner Date Night...lol...this is supposed to happen between 6:00 PM and 9:00 PM. We have a dinner reservation at 8:00 PM.

The forecast is only for three inches...but the forecast said...poor visibility...freezing temps...wind...the dreaded and dastardly wind...and God only knows what else!

Oh me oh my...do we stay or do we go?

Happy Valentine's Day?
