Tuesday's Thoughts...Random, Of Course!

It's most definitely fall...our house is in that clump of reddish trees! They were so tiny when we first planted them!

Where is our house?

When we first moved onto this street...no one had any trees...we never raked leaves and we were very sad! Lol...not any more! We have a million different kinds of leaves everywhere!

Finished this yesterday...so touching and heartfelt! The conversations between Douglas and Seth and Henry...oh my...sad and lovely and funny! The premise of this book is that Douglas...a teacher...is taking a summer trip in an RV to scatter his son's ashes at Yellowstone. He takes on two young brothers as a favor to their father...the story is lovely! Sad but not too sad...more bittersweet!

Reading this one now...fun, light, and sassy!

Making this for dinner from KitchenDaily...tomatoes and veggies and chickpeas and pasta...yum!

I am still pulling out bins of October stuff! One of my favorite wreaths!

Happy Tuesday...it's kind of wet and chilly and dreary here today...a very good stay at home to make soup kind of day!

Monday's Modifications? Kitties And Books!

I have recently realized that our beloved bedroom...with its peely white furniture and quilts and white wicker and paintings...from Maine and other special places...is not just our room...but has also become "their" room. My two fave paintings...can you tell why and can you see how the artist drew stuff when she signed these?

Any way...I digress...

I no longer sit in my pink ticking chair to read...it's Roxie's!

I no longer sit in my wicker chaise...it's Lucy's!

There are soft catnip toys scattered everywhere...a cat scratching tree in front of the window...and two scratchers that they love tucked away in corners. I have to pick up toys to vacuum!

I don't even know how this all happened. But...kitties are sneaky like that...whenever they aren't with us...they are in "our" room! Oh my! They even get excited when we open our closet doors...they always walk inside to check it out...every single time! Oh...I keep a closet full of my clothes in a room that is way down the hall...when I walk down the hall to get something...I am always trailed by the two of them...it's so funny. It looks as though I am leading a parade! A kitty parade! And Lucy is always first with Roxie right behind her...they never change their order!

Sigh...so our room has been modified by these two sweet kitties! We also think that Roxie has learned to be a little princess just by watching Lucy...oh yes she has!

Books!

Reading this...no opinion yet!

But I really want to "drop it like it's hot" and read this one...oh my how I LOVED the first one! And J.A.White is a teacher...an amazing teacher!

Oh...just a note...I am still stuffy but totally hooked on this new Lemon Vicks!

Happy Monday!

Sunday's Surprise!

We woke up to a temp of 37 degrees! Oh me, oh my...it will get to a sunny 70 today but right now it is freezing!

Den zipped out for church and bagels...I am snuggled with kitties and there is not anything I want to get up for right now.

I did not even cook dinner yesterday...I had a weird allergy thing going on...sneezing...stuffiness...I felt awful all day! Better today but still stuffy! I hate seasonal allergies! Hate them! Ick!

Reading this...perfectly dysfunctionally lovely...just what I need in between sneezes and feeling as though I can't breathe!

Vicks is my best friend...my moms remedy of Vicks on a few Kleenexes and just hold it and breathe it in...did you know that there is Lemon Vicks? I love Vicks!

These are up next...this one is a sweet, sad middle grade book.

This one is sort of L.A. Dysfunction...yum!

Time to sniff Vicks and breathe!

Happy Sunday!

Saturday's Situation!

Here is the thing...the situation is this...it's chilly here...we had the AC on last night but today we have on long sleeves and it is beautiful outside but chilly! Really really chilly! But we love this kind of weather! We have put some of the deck furniture inside and lovely leaves are everywhere. We were going to go out to dinner but I just want to cuddle and stay home. The girls are happy about this decision, too. This is the time of year when they want laps! Den had a massive list of stuff to do today but I talked him into binge watching TV! I am a grand convincer!

On our way home from Annapolis we stopped at a Farmer's Market for tons of local produce...we have become hooked on a sliced apple and a bowl of cottage cheese for lunches...I know...it sounds weird but it is so good!

I am making pan fried chicken and roasted butternut squash for dinner! CASA is one of my new favorite blogs!

Finished this book...OMG...it was so good...it was written as though it was poetry/prose? But it wasn't poetry and it was MESMERIZING...8 teens make a horrific choice and have to deal with the aftermath...this book was so good!

Reading this now...Harvard, love, war...it's really good, too!

Ok...back to Binge Watching! Has anyone watched "How To Get Away With Murder" yet? OMG...so good!

Happy Saturday! What's your Saturday Situation?

Roxie Blue...the remote is hers!

Friday's Frivolities!

The only problem with two day getaways is that they are two day getaways! Lol!
I have a system now because this is the 5th one we have taken...I keep everything I need in my suitcase...all creams and lotions and potions and tweezers and eyelash curlers and absolutely anything that I use all of the time and have now triplicated! This stuff is bagged in my suitcase and when we decide to go...I just need outfits. It's a perfect plan! And shoes...since we are driving...I pop a basket in the car with every pair I think I might need...if we have car access I just leave the basket in the car and change when I need to...but in Annapolis Den had to bring it in because once we valeted the car...we didn't even touch the car again until we left. In Annapolis there are great cabs, water taxis, shuttles and jitneys! So much fun...this is my quick trip suitcase...this one is at Amazon but I snatched mine from T.J.Maxx and I love it...it has a hard shell and compartments...it's perfect for our mini trips!

Can I just say that we loved Annapolis so much we are heading back in a few weeks?

We mostly just were on our own but this next time we are going to go to the Naval Academy and the Museum...and take a canal tour!

This is the perfect time of year for this kind of travel...there are no crowds!

The only part of the drive I hated was the drive on the bridge over the Chesapeake...it is so high and long and scary...I am not usually bothered by bridges but this one was so long! Look at this bridge! OMG!

So...now we are back to reality...Den is mowing, Lucy just came back from her cold laser treatment, I am sort of cleaning and tidying the house and planning week end football foods...

White chicken chili with big white beans from Bon Appetit!

Creamy enchiladas from Miss In The Kitchen!

Green Minestroni...yum...really sure about this one! This recipe comes from Eats Well With Others!

Just finished this YA fantasy...loved it!

Starting this later...described as a "haunting" tale!

Right now Roxie Blue has me held captive...by sleeping in my lap! They missed us...even though the sitter came in three times in a two day period!

Happy Friday!
