Random Thoughts...

This is the holiday where I think you need a few chocolate eggs...

a few choice jelly beans...
and a few marshmallow Peeps.
Den buys one pack and sticks them in the freezer to ration them...he loves these things!

I always get a sweet little Easter surprise.

It's fun to know some Easter facts. This chart was on the kitchn...

black licorice! Who knew?

I also learned that Pennsylvania's favorite jellybean flavor is blueberry. You can find what your state's fave flavor is by going here...

Nothing really exciting is happening here...I have completely watched all of the Chicago's there were to watch...I need to find a new old show to binge on.

I firmly believe I will never be finished with The Black Witch. I read huge chunks of it and it seems to keep multiplying.

The Girl On The Train author has a new book...

So does J. Courtney Sullivan...

And Elin Hildebrand...

I don't have any of them...yet! I want all three!

I love mason jars...Den doesn't get it.

Den has been rearranging my kitchen drawers and shelves...he actually removed some of my kitchen towels...if I wasn't so tired I would be outraged! I can't find anything! Things are too orderly. Sigh! I think the spices are now updated and alphabetized...there are many new jars...who throws out cinnamon that is a few days expired...and...actually...does cinnamon expire? Even pans and casserole dishes are different. He has even more plans for reorganizing the kitchen...I am not sure how I feel about this!

The week end should be relaxing...the weather will be lovely...sitting on the deck will be perfect!

Have a great holiday!

See you on Monday!

Hugs,

Patty

A Quiet Day...

Yesterday I walked, went out, sat on the deck...today the major part of the day was taken up by a long nap. I don't remember falling asleep and when I woke up Lucy was in my arms under the covers and Roxie was on the pillow next to me. I have to think that they think they are watching over me. I was exhausted today...truly exhausted. It just happens...I don't intend to fall asleep but I just do. And at an incredibly thrilling part of my book, too! Icorals are after Elloran and lupines and Fallon keeps casting spells that freeze Elloran's ink and make her fall. Everyone at school seems to hate her because her grandmother was the famed "black witch". Haven't a clue what I am talking about...I know...just giving you a sample of the world building in this amazing fantasy. It reminds me of Harry Potter...just a teensy bit!

Off to read and perhaps binge watch more Chicago Med!

Hugs,

Patty

It's Wednesday...

Yesterday I took myself out of my self imposed exile to walk down our street...we got as far as our neighbor's mailbox before we ran into our neighbor and just stopped to chat. It feels so good to be outside when the weather is perfect...and yesterday the weather was perfection. We finished our short walk by sitting on the deck watching one duck, three geese, one seabird, one huge wasp and one heron on the pond. It was lovely...other than the irritating wasp.

This is me...under this kitty pile! They both love to be on me or next to me and are often content to just hold onto me except when they are fighting over positions. Lucy...as the elder kitty...feels as though she is entitled to be closest to me. Roxie accepts it most of the time but occasionally rebels and literally shoves Lucy out of the way. Sigh!

This book! I normally like reading a book in a few days but this one is a big thick book and is taking me a long time to read although I love it. I think that sometimes fantasies take longer...new worlds, new words, new everything! It takes a longer time for me to absorb a fantasy. Plus there is a "mean girl" undercurrent in this book. Apparently even in other worlds girls are mean and jealous and cruel...it just makes this book even more exciting.

So...it's just an ordinary Wednesday...kind of not a pretty day here...I have to go do bloodwork...we need some groceries...plus it's Easter Week! There are chocolate bunnies and chicks and eggs to think about...and jellybeans! Who can forget Jelly Belly jellybeans?

Have a great day!

Hugs,

Patty

A Reason For Binge Watching?

So...over the weekend I finished watching all of Season 5 of Chicago Fire...which I loved. This goes against everything I thought I loved because as I said before I usually don't love shows about fire trucks. So I haven't seen Seasons 1-4 but they aren't readily available unless you pay about a million dollars for them. So...I started watching Chicago Med...which is also weird for me because I don't like hospital shows. But...I am hooked and working my way through Season 2. Season 1 isn't available unless you pay about a million dollars for it...heeheehee! But here is the amazing thing about Chicago Med...Dr. Connor Rhodes was in my second grade class when we lived in St. Louis. His mom was my room mom. He was a sweet little boy. He looks exactly the same except bigger and now he is a TV doctor! So cool! He has been on Broadway, too. I am absolutely certain that I was his fave teacher ever...

Reading this...you have to love fantasy but this book is so delicious...it's all witches and wands and weirdness!

As well as this...

Off to try walking outside rather than treadmilling it...which is getting really boring.

Hugs,

Patty

Almost forgot...making a Spring Minestrone for dinner today...you just sort of toss in all kinds of vegetables and top it with pesto and eat it with good bread!

Over The Weekend...

I finished this...I actually could not put this book down. I don't think I loved this book but rather I compulsively read it. It's truly about what a totally insensitive and cruel father will do when he wants to get his son ranked as the number one tennis player in the world. It also had landmarks in my part of the country so the book was even more fascinating.

I am still reading as well as loving this huge fantasy...

New books!!! All of this week's books are from Amazon, NetGalley and Edelweiss.

"Over the course of one momentous day, two women who have built their lives around the same man find themselves moving toward an inevitable reckoning."

“With breathtaking urgency, Chevalier brings Othello to a 1970s suburban elementary school outside Washington, D.C., where the playground is as rife with poisonous intrigue as any monarch’s court… Chevalier’s brilliantly concentrated and galvanizing improvisation thoroughly exposes the malignancy and tragedy of racism, sexism, jealousy, and fear.” —Booklist

“The queen of beach books” (The Star-Ledger) returns to the shores of Nantucket in a novel about one memorable summer when flirtations flourish, family dramas play out, and scandalous secrets surface.

"A shocking discovery and chilling secrets converge in this latest novel from New York Times bestselling author Heather Gudenkauf"

"The New York Times bestselling author of A Certain Age transports readers to sunny Florida in this lush and enthralling historical novel—an enchanting blend of love, suspense, betrayal, and redemption set among the rumrunners and scoundrels of Prohibition-era Cocoa Beach."

It's a beautiful day here on the East Coast! If I wasn't still in my self imposed exile I would want to go to the beach...just to look at it and come home again...but soon!

Hugs,

Patty
