Tackling The Kitchen!

Not my idea...nope not my idea at all...BUT...we are going to dust all of the stuff that is on top of the kitchen shelves...in my case it's bird houses and other stuff from all over the country. Den has been "yearning" to do this. I think it's a massive task...one of those jobs that once you start it...it leads to something else that has to be done. Sigh!
Probably every bird house needs dusting? Washing? Sigh! So not my thing!
See? And this isn't even all of it...double sigh!

Plus we have a built in kitchen helper to deal with...I know I have mentioned this before but living with a Tonkinese cat (or two) is like living with a two year old forever. This morning Roxie actually carried a pill bottle out of a basket and played with it by tossing it around on the floor...they were Lucy's pills...in a childproof Tonk proof bottle. I think Roxie liked the rattling sound! So cute!

Just finished this...different...I loved it!

Loving this...it's sooo good. Rich girl, poor girl...friends...secrets...a family compound.

Off to dust...Happy Saturday!

I Seriously Need A Fish Sandwich!

It's the very first Friday in Lent...and the tastes of my childhood are calling to me...

I need a fish sandwich...this comes from my mom...a very devout Mass Daily Catholic (thank goodness the church was a block away because she lived there) and fierce follower of All Rules Lenten...I can hear her in my head...reminding me about meatless Friday! So...there are choices...

McDonald's...this is the one my dad would get us...with French Fries and a milkshake...ugg!

Wendy's? This is a more recent one...and interesting...sort of!

But today's fish adventure is going to lead us to Jake's! Yep...Jake's...home of the Wayback Burger and now this! The million calorie Icelandic Cod sandwich! It's what's for lunch!

Yep...we are going down...also having Jake's homemade potato chips and a real soda...maybe even root beer? OMG! The treadmill as well as Barre Three DVD's are fired up for later today or maybe tomorrow...yeah...tomorrow! Den will opt for a weird flavor milkshake that is malted...yep...milk with fish? Gagging! I won't be able to look at it!

It's a switch from what Den had for lunch yesterday...lol...OMG!

Den is taking today off after his grueling Minnesota trip and we are going to watch this...probably the last two people on Earth who have not seen it...

Reading this...YA yumminess!

That's our Friday!

Minnesota? Stuck In Minnesota?

Den travels to Minnesota quite a bit for work. When he is there he always has meetings that are three hours away from the airport! He rents huge cars, drives for hours to get to his meetings, eats walleye or steaks, drives three more hours back to the airport and comes home! I find it amazing. He isn't even in the same time zone when he is there. Den has literally traveled the world for work...so it seems so funny to me that he spends so much time in Minnesota and that it is such a difficult place to get to! I can't imagine all that driving and his love for walleye! Today he is maneuvering his big car through a snowstorm for his meeting which is three hours away from where he is...then he will drive three hours back to the airport...hop on a plane and come home! Hopefully! He is five states away from his girls right now in very bad weather...oh my!

Read this little gem yesterday...YA...lost love...a baby...it was really good!

Reading this now...

Trying to decide about dinner...which Den will be home for...maybe this? A potato broccoli rabe pizza from Food 52?

Yummy!

Happy Reading!

What's Up?

We went out to dinner for Fat Tuesday! We plan to not eat any meat until Easter Sunday! We really do not eat tons of meat but this is a challenge Den and I have set for ourselves...we have given ourselves 3 outs...just in case...and we are not eating any sugary anything! Wow! Last night we hit a steakhouse...sort of a red meat last hurrah!

This book...thank you NetGalley!

I want to start it now but it's third in the queue...I sneak read the first chapter. It's the kind of book I love! Dorms, school, poor girls, rich girls...drama!

Here's the blurb from Amazon and NetGalley...

Suspenseful and cinematic, Bittersweet exposes the gothic underbelly of an idyllic world of privilege and an outsider’s hunger to belong.

On scholarship at a prestigious East Coast college, ordinary Mabel Dagmar is surprised to befriend her roommate, the beautiful, wild, blue-blooded Genevra Winslow. Ev invites Mabel to spend the summer at Bittersweet, her cottage on the Vermont estate where her family has been holding court for more than a century; it’s the kind of place where children twirl sparklers across the lawn during cocktail hour. Mabel falls in love with midnight skinny-dipping, the wet dog smell that lingers near the yachts, and the moneyed laughter that carries across the still lake while fireworks burst overhead. Before she knows it, she has everything she’s ever wanted: friendship, a boyfriend, access to wealth, and, most of all, for the first time in her life, the sense that she belongs.
But as Mabel becomes an insider, a terrible discovery leads to shocking violence and reveals what the Winslows may have done to keep their power intact - and what they might do to anyone who threatens them. Mabel must choose: either expose the ugliness surrounding her and face expulsion from paradise, or keep the family’s dark secrets and make Ev's world her own.

I can't wait!

Happy UnFat Wednesday!

Random Thoughts And Things!

Chef Tom Douglas and his Triple Coconut Pie!

Eileen Fisher's new harem jumpsuit!

Polish Donuts from BrownEyedBaker!

Another harem jumpsuit view!

Keratined hair...it's expensive and a process but for me...worth it...it gets rid of frizzies, cuts down on hair drying time and keeps me sane!

Finished this...

Still reading this...

Have a lovely Tuesday!

New Books!

Lovely new egalleys from NetGalley!

Really into this right now...I think that one of the unique aspects of this book is that the main character...Kelsea...seems to not be so beautiful...she is described as "plain"...and when she is surrounded by her guards...she tries not to eat so much...a different kind of heroine?

Last night...I think...a moment of true love and companionship...I don't know if I am imagining this but when Lucy cries or coughs her tiny cough...Roxie rushes to her...and when I give Lucy her inhaler treatment...I have to hold her and count while Lucy takes five breaths...Roxie is right there counting with me and she touches the inhaler...it is so sweet...

No wonder she is exhausted and goes right to bed!

Happy Snowy Monday!

Books!

Started this yesterday and I love it...it apparently is the first book in a seven book series by this author...it's the story of Kelsea...the 19 year old Queen of a place called the Tearling. Her Uncle and someone called the Red Queen want her dead...I just finished the first chapter and it is a fast paced, exciting, and fascinating fantasy. It takes place a long time ago but I thought I read somewhere that it takes place after an environmental disaster...I will do more research about this thought. Another amazing thing about this book is that it's not even out yet and I forgot that I had it!

Another huge thank you to Edelweiss!!!

Plus...the rights to all seven books in this fantasy series have already been purchased by Warner Brothers and Emma Watson...Harry Potter's Hermione...is going to be Kelsea! Oh my! I read all of this in an online post from The Guardian.

On another note...we are preparing for another snowstorm! It's supposed to start tonight as...brrrrrrr...ice...and then change over to snow. But the good news is we are only getting 10 inches! Yahoo!

My amazing hair dude...Kevin Castaldi...is doing keratin on my hair today...I have been trying not to get it but...I am so tired of trying to blow dry my hair to a smoothness that I can't achieve...I need keratin...with it my hair stays smooth, sleek and I spend little or no time blow drying it...

The salon was closed quite a few days due to power outages and snow...so he is giving up a few of his off days to catch up! So...it's a Sunday before the snow hits keratin for me!

Waiting for Den to bring us coffee from this new place in town called Philter...I am hooked on their lattes...creamy smooth with just really good pure coffee! Yum!

Happy Sunday!
