One Beautiful Book...

Loved loved loved this book...one of my favorites this year...the one and only problem with reading an Elin Hildebrand book is that I am now craving really good clam chowder and all things Nantucket!

This is a lovely must read!

Stuff...Good Stuff...Bad Stuff...In Between Stuff!

The dress that I loved, worshipped, practically adored?
I had to send it back to Shopbop not once...but twice!!!
Trust me...it is really cool on...fabric is stretchy and amazing...the colors are great...it's a throw on and go dress...but it is huge and when I put it on it seemed to get bigger and bigger!!!
I am getting it one more time...hopefully...in the right size...Shopbop is an awesome site...you attach the prepaid mailing label...it even has a tracking number...and you get an email as soon as they get it! The third try will be the right try! I can feel it!

Oh...and it's on sale...hot diggety doggy!

Lucy has been napping on the top of her stroller...I have been keeping it in the sunroom because she likes seeing it...you might be wondering how I know this but I just do...we were having dinner and Den said...is that her foot hanging inside the stroller? She actually poked a hole in the seam. She seems to be clutching it rather possessively, doesn't she?

Hmmmm...

My BlueFire Reader will not open! This is both a good thing and a bad thing. It's where I download egalleys from NetGalley, Edelweiss and authors. Right now I am cleaned out and can't get to dozens and dozens of books! Why don't I feel upset about this?

Hmmm...

I kind of feel refreshed, cleansed and carefree...my bad!

Trying a new date night bistro for tomorrow...it's called The House Of William And Merry...can't wait!
Look! It's really a house! Those two people are really William and Merry!

Still reading this...it's so good it needs to be savored!

Take care out there, everyone!

Why? And Further Thoughts On Eggplant...

Lucy has kitty beds in almost every room of our house. There are plush ones and heated ones and soft comfy quilts thrown on all of the beds. She can sink into velvety pillows or curl up on cozy chairs.
She can place her little kitty body on our king bed.
So...where is her latest sleeping spot?
Here...in dirt!

And she looks comfy!!!

And is she giving me the evil eye?

Again?

As for eggplant...hmmm...not so bad...Den loved it...the secret was dipping them in crumbly stuff and then baking them at a high heat...they were crispy and really good!

Who knew?

Two Things...Well Maybe Three Or Four...

Still reading and loving this...so Nantuckety!

I am reading this book next...it looks mysterious and scary and chilling.

GoodReads says the following about this book.

"Lady Christie Morgan is not the only occupant in this desolate English estate. A young apparition appears, sparking a chain of horrifying occurrences involving Christie and the two men closest to her: Anthony Longfield-Lothian and Tristan Ely. A saga of mystery and sordid family history weaves intrigue for the passionate love triangle. Past and present war as the secrets of three aristocratic families come to light".

Morgan Hall is the kind of fast paced book that I love! I love a reading plan! Plus I love any book that has a character with a hyphenated name! Plus I love a scary cover!
Yum!

So this is my Thursday...heat wave warning yet again...painters and deck stainers can't work. Den is flying home in the midst of thunderstorms. I have to zip to the produce store for dinner...which will be this. What the heck is this you might ask?

Grilled eggplant something or other...from Pinterest via Martha Stewart.
Should be interesting since all three of us...lol...hate eggplant. We don't get this vegetable at all!
But it's covered in sauce and cheese...so...we'll see!

What I Am Reading...

This book was so good...lots of dysfunction and cupcakes!

Reading this now even though I should be reading other books but I don't really care...I think I am breaking away from the review stuff for awhile...except for Amazon Vine...
It is not summer for me without reading an Elin Hildebrand book. Just started this yesterday but I am totally hooked.

We are again in a heat wave...it is amazingly hot here. Today I am resting and reading.
I think Atlantic City exhausted us. Den is tired, I am tired and Lucy is still semi mad at us!
We have not yet told her that we are seeing K.D.Lang in a few weeks and we will be doing this again!
Oh my...

I Love Stevie Nicks!

I can honestly say that this was the best concert I have ever been to...OMG...I loved it!
My toes were tapping...it was surreal, filled with stories, songs and Stevie's amazing voice.
I loved it so much! How much you might ask? This much I answer...imagine arms out wide!
Stevie's clothes...the sparkly arm cuffs, the capes and shawls...so fetching. I was mesmerized by her stories behind the songs...she is a reader...she refuses to own a cell phone or a computer. Wow!!!

We drove to AC...Atlantic City...Stevie Nicks was at the Borgata...we had dinner at Izakaya...a lovely Japanese restaurant with amazing bites of food. We had spicy tuna cracker and robatayaki...which was grilled squares of Kobe beef and my favorite...tuna tataki...which was tuna on avocado with a beautiful dish of tomatoes.
So good!

We spent the night at the Borgata...steps away from the concert area. This was the view from our room. The Borgata upgraded our room to a water view one because I am a high roller...or rather a high slot machine presser. We spent a total of $20.00 on nickel slot machines. My friend told me to play the maximum on machines that were progressive. I had no clue what she meant. My $20.00 lasted about 5 minutes.
I left with a 15 cent win! I think they gave us a water view room out of pity!

Since we were barely away for 24 hours...we left Lucy in charge. Of course there was a horrible storm...wind, rain, power outages. We left yesterday at 4 ish...we were back in the house by 11 ish...Lucy has just now stopped meowing at me...and giving me the evil eye!

Who Doesn't Love Cake? Especially Vintage Ones!

I really think I have to buy this book...I saw it on a blog called This That And The Other Thing.

Doesn't the cake plate look peely at the edges? I need to head back to the Milk House to look for one.

It's described this way on Amazon...

"A charming collection of updated recipes for both classic and forgotten cakes, from a timeless yellow birthday cake with chocolate buttercream frosting, to the Christmas standard, Bûche de Noël, written by a master baker and coauthor of Rustic Fruit Desserts".

It's the cover that sings to me...I just want one teeny slice...and you can have the rest of it.

I just want to toss on a frilly apron and make a pink cake!
