But...I had a really good reason...I can barely put this book down! You might be wondering why...so...here are my key points! I would do anything you can to grab up this book!
- The chapters are relatively short and once at the end of each chapter you feel compelled to read on!
- The writing flows!
- This author writes a captivating story!
- The characters...are so pathetically flawed!
- One character is so stupid and selfish that I want to scream...notice I am not giving anything away!
The only problem with this book is that I will be in a slump about what to read next!
Perhaps this?
What we are cooking this week end...because...
this past week was a tough chemo week...it's not the chemo side affects of that show Thirty Something? It's more achy, bitchy, crying...when everyone around me is telling me to be happy...but I had a double dose of the treatment and my little body suffers! This past Wednesday I had a really small short treatment and so far I feel awesome...and I want to cook, bake, sauté, dance, and fire up my new slowcooker! So...I am making...
A Slow Cooker Mexican Lasagna from 100 Days Of Food!
I loved The Couple Next Door, too...it was awesome!
ReplyDeleteSuch delicious looking meals, and you are so good to cook all of those dishes! That sauteed chicken looks so yummy. Thanks for sharing!
I feel so badly that my sweet Den is missing good dinners. I do it for him!
DeleteChemo is tough no matter how much you get. Let me know what you think of the ending of The Couple Next Door.
ReplyDeleteI will...and I know...they thought I would not lose my hair but it has been falling out in clumps...I spent an hour just wailing over it...I am never without a hat now and I look stupid! I feel like everyone is looking at me.
DeleteMaybe you should write a book about your experiences. Keep going. You have so much good in your life.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I can relive any of this...it scares me to my soul. I just want to be blessed enough to be able to take these hits and get through all of this. Thank you...there is much good...and I can see it everywhere. I am actually nicer and kinder.
DeleteBread and goat cheese?? Good lord you are killing me lady.
ReplyDeleteI have to jump on the appetite train when I can! My weight goes down and I have to keep it up. Or people get mad at me...heeheehee!
DeleteI'm glad you're feeling like cooking. And I want some sautéed chicken...
ReplyDeleteAdding the first book to my Goodreads list!
The bread is in the oven and the smells are Heavenly. You should love that book!
DeleteI'm sorry the chemo has been a roller coaster so far. It probably affects patients differently so don't feel any guilt over it. I'm glad you're immersed in a good book. The orphan one looks really good. There's a giveaway on GR so I've entered it. That bread looks super delicious! And how sweet of you to make Den his grandmother's favorite stew.
ReplyDeleteJust took the bread out of the oven...it smells amazing! It looks good, too! The chemo...yes...it will be a roller coaster until I am done!
DeleteMy SIL had breast cancer twice and she lost most of her hair both times, so she had her hair cut in a short pixie cut (do people even call it that anymore?) & wore earrings and held her head high. I know you love your hair... but it might soothe your uncomfortable feeling if you have it "evened out". Just a suggestion; you will know what is best for your psyche.
ReplyDeleteYummy recipes-- glad you are doing well enough to whip up some great dinners for you and Den! Enjoy eating when you feel the urge!
I know...and you are right...I just can't accept all of this yet...I will but I still cry...,
DeleteI've been seeing The Couple Next Door around a lot lately and I'm pretty intrigued, I also love the cover because it takes a bit to figure it out.
ReplyDeleteI'm sending you a recipe for a sauce that my family loves. It's how I get Omega 3s in them. It's also full of B vitamins. We're never without it.
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup tamari (traditional brew)
Two or three cloves of garlic or garlic powder to taste
1/3 cup flax oil
1/3 cup olive oil
2/3 cup nutritional yeast
Mix till smooth in blender or with stick blender
For thicker sauce:
Presoak one heaping tablespoon of Chia seed in the water for several hours or overnight.
Blend as usual
Use as salad dressing,
vegetable dip, sandwich dip, on potatoes, eggs, apples, tacos, tofu, or just about anything.😄🍴
Thank you, Maggie!
