It's Friday!

Wired...

I am really tired of falling asleep. Yep...I really am. I think that I am not as busy or as social as I used to be and my life will be that way for a while. I am more fatigued. And if I am not careful...the moment I lie in bed my eyes close and I fall asleep around 9 ish...only to wake up at midnight...sort of wired...I hate wired.

Binge Watching...

I am binge watching a show called Chicago Fire...I don't normally like shows about fire trucks but I am obsessively hooked on this one. And it seems to be connected to Chicago PD, Chicago Justice, Chicago Med and even Law And Order...I have no clue why I am into this show. Plus I started watching it at the end rather than the beginning so I am totally confused by what's happening...and yet I am not able to stop watching it!

Books...

I am really enjoying this one. So...this father wants to make his son a tennis champion and is totally obsessive...cruel, actually...about his training. He takes his son out of school...puts his son through punishing training...to make him a champion. I am loving this book.

Loving this one, too. It's all wands and witches and selkies and mystery...I can get lost in this magical world. This is the first book in this series.

Because of the weekend I added a third book...another fantasy that I started and stopped but now I am ready to start it again.

Olive oil...

So...my sister told me about this really lovely and fragrant olive oil. I ordered it and the cookbook from Amazon. The cookbook is seriously filled with great old Italian recipes and stories. There is a timeline for making sauce on Sunday's! It tells you from beginning to end exactly when your guests/family should be sitting down to dinner...an amazing homemade pasta dinner!

So...

Have a great weekend!

Hugs,

Patty

So Many Books...

For some reason lately I am besieged and overrun lately by requests to read new author books. It makes me sad to say no...I always try to write these authors back and wish them luck...but in my self imposed exile I really just want to read the books that I love...I know new authors need a voice but I don't have that voice...and it is exhausting...plus...sometimes it's amazing that they would even ask...the match is just so wrong...how can someone think I would read a self help book when I have never self helped anything in my entire life? I am so not a self helper. Ick...

On the other hand...the publishers and authors and publicists that I have a relationship with? I just read these books sort of non stop...in my self imposed exile. These books are suited to me...I mostly love them...and pick up the next one the moment I put down a finished book. Yum!

I almost can't wait to start a new book...

So...with all that said...this book has me puzzled...central character Merilee was far too innocent...central character Miss Sugar was far too nosy...Miss Sugar was Merilee's landlady but was always in her rental house complaining about something or baking cookies. I strongly dislike flashbacks and there were lots of flashbacks. Everything leading up to the ending was just unplausible. So...I think I didn't love this book. And yet I sort of enjoyed it...hmmm.

Starting this one now...

From NetGalley And Amazon...

"Trophy Son brings Conroy's The Great Santini and Malamud's The Natural into the present day...A terrific book." -Harlan Coben

It is dismal, rainy and dark here today. We have nothing exciting for lunch so Den is going out for street tacos...last night we had cheeseburgers and these amazing onion rings. This is totally against our normal clean eating but Big Chemo often gives me weird tastes. Den made blueberry banana pineapple smoothies for breakfast and that helped...we have this amazing Florida watermelon...that tastes so delicious...so it seems as though fruit really helps me. And my ever present lemonade...Den literally freezes a whole lemon and then grates it into my organic lemonade...it is delightful!
So...it is actually thundering outside...I am off to have lunch and then read!

Patty

Wednesday's Events...

Our sweet Lucy had an "elder care" check up yesterday...she had a great check up and she can continue to watch over us as only she knows how. She has gone from absolutely hating Sweet Roxie to almost loving/tolerating her. We realize that caring for an elder kitty is almost like caring for an elderly person. Lucy is fussy about food, crochety at times, complaining and sometimes irritating. She likes her world the way she wants it and if it isn't her way she lets us know! She can be very LOUD! Too funny! She looks so sweet and innocent, too!

The sun is shining...Den is outside working in the yard while the girls and I blog and read...Roxie is snuggled in my lap with no signs of leaving me. Both of my kitties have sleek soft Tonkinese fur...they are silken to the touch and relaxing to hold. They look us right in our eyes when we talk to them. People say that's a sign of true kitty love...especially if they blink...and they blink!

Clothes...love these kinds of tops...so comfy for everywhere! If they are stretchy or slouchy or oversized...I love them!

Books...

Almost finished with this...it's good but a bit weird...there is a 94 year old with tons of secrets. I like this book but there are flashbacks and I am so over flashbacks...I just don't like them. I think that the cover of this book made me believe I was going to love it unconditionally...and I don't...yet.

Dinner...

We did not feel like cooking yesterday so we had an assortment of salads from Talulah's Table...a pesto salad, a quinoa salad, and a chicken salad...with slices of a great baguette! Yum!

Tonight? Either this or pasta...Sheet Pan Barbecued Chicken or pasta...pasta with a little bit of pancetta! Yum!

Off to read...

Hugs,

Patty

Today...

Today is an interesting day...there are appointments scheduled all day long. Den and I are so not alike in the way we schedule things. I like to schedule one thing at a time. Den does not mind if the entire day is filled...he is able to work around everything!

Today...Den had a 9:00 phone meeting, at 9:40 Lucy and Den are off to the vet for a check up, at 11:30 Vicky comes to change my Pick Line, at noon Den has lunch with his friends, and finally at 3:00 Den ends the day with a hair appointment! Whew! So much for scheduling just one thing at a time. But he doesn't mind it because the rest of the week is clear except for tomorrow when I have a weekly blood test! Tomorrow is another nice day...perfect for working outside and planting some flowers! Yes!

And then the rest of the week really is unscheduled...really.

Reading this...it's all Southern Charm and sweet tea and tomato sandwiches on white bread and fun...oh...let's toss in some okra, too! Breaded and fried thanks to the matriarch of this book...Miss Sugar...a 90 year old Southern Belle full of secrets!

Dinner tonight is just a simple pasta and a sort of local tomato sauce from New Jersey...that is soooo good. We eat a lot of this pasta...it's low carb yet tastes like regular pasta. Yummy if you are watching carbs and still crave pasta! Really yummy!

Bought these from Free People...they are both breezy and springy and colorful...perfect with jeans to start off spring! I am craving color!

Have an awesome Tuesday!

Hugs,

Patty

It's Monday!

This was another quiet weekend...we watched our very last Grimm episode, played with kitties, and just relaxed. This was a Nuelasta weekend but it wasn't as bad as it could have been...I only really had a day of joint discomfort and meds helped me to get through it!

I read these two books...this one was so good! Really a page turning mystery...absorbing and interesting.

This one was the exact opposite...just not my kind of book at all...too much drugs, sex and rock and roll!

New books! I love anything Jane Green! Thank you NetGalley for all of these!

"The New York Times bestselling author of Falling presents a warm, wise, and wonderfully vivid novel about a mother who asks her three estranged daughters to come home to help her end her life."

"A mother with a troubled past vanishes while hiking, leaving her family to piece together her secrets, in this keenly observed novel from the bestselling author of All We Ever Wanted Was Everything."

"The wooded hills of Oxfordshire conceal the remains of the aptly named Ashdown House—a wasted pile of cinders and regret. Once home to the daughter of a king, Ashdown and its secrets will unite three women across four centuries in a tangle of romance, deceit and destiny…"

"An astonishing literary debut about a young girl’s coming of age in the haunting, enchanting world of an English commune—a modern gothic novel with echoes of Room and Never Let Me Go."

I have no books started yet...not sure what I am in the mood for...

I think these...maybe?

Patty
