Discoveries!

Discovery # 1...

Ever since Lent started I have been craving fish sandwiches, fish sticks, crab cakes, shrimp cocktails, and in particular the fish sandwich from Wendy's which purist Den won't let us get. There is a sheet pan dinner for fish and chips but we have to drive all the way to Weggieman's to get the fish...probably won't happen today! This recipe and photo are from chealseasmessyapron.

Discovery # 2...

I really do need more colored pencils. Some of these are just irresistible. My books and pencils are always accessible...my best coloring times are when I am waiting for water to boil...I think my coloring attention span is very short, too.

Discovery # 3...

I don't want any more hats...I am so tired of hats but my head is really cold without them!

Discovery # 4...

My system really works! I can read more than one book at a time as long as one is Kindled and the other isn't. Woefully my third book idea doesn't work. I am sticking to two books. Although I also have Sycamore on my Kindle...sigh!

Discovery # 5...

Den will not just move a piece of furniture...today we simply had to change out a bedside table in one of the other bedrooms. For me...changing means changing. To Den...changing means dusting, vacuuming, questioning me about stuff and why we need it...sigh!

I really don't know why we have so much stuff! But I do know that I need it.

The change out side...

The other change out side...

The sum of two changeouts...yep...way too much stuff! But I made almost everything! I can't give it up yet. Once I feel totally strong I will go through each room and weed out stuff. But for right now...stuff stays.

Have a great weekend...see you on Monday!

Hugs,

Patty

Thursday's Thoughts...

I was in the sunroom coloring today...I thought that I wanted to bake banana bread and a Key Lime pie with one of my bottles of Key Lime juice...but I realized that I really wasn't in the mood...

Den was absorbed in rearranging his study...the kitties were napping...our bed was stripped and we were washing our quilt so they were waiting for hot sheets. Every family member was engaged in their own pursuits...which was nice. Den and I will reconnect in a bit to binge watch some TV.

So...while I was coloring in the sunroom...I heard and saw a commotion outside. The yard was filled with vultures eating a huge dead fish from the pond...sad for the catfish...good for the vultures. Those are the vultures.

Geese swimming while the vultures are eating!

So while the vultures are snacking on the fish a golden eagle swoops down...the vultures storm away...the eagle tastes the fish...spits it out and flies away...apparently not a fan of sushi!

I go back to my very important coloring.

Can I just say that I have yet to color one entire page of anything? The cities book is Den's...it's a very masculine coloring book...he is still coloring his first page! The reason is this...he won't move to another page or another book until he finishes the page he started. His book is filled with teeny tiny little buildings...hundreds of them...but he will not budge...I have colored randomly in tons of coloring books and never finished a page...ever!

OMG! That must say something about my personality. Sigh! Plus I still think I need more pencils. Double sigh!

Back to books...

Still the same two...

But I am thinking of adding a third...a yummy fantasy! My only one book at a time rule has definitely fallen by the wayside...not only am I a random colorer but I am also a random reader...in a self imposed exile! Oh well...

Have a terrific Thursday!

Hugs,

Patty

Wednesday's Words...

Finished this...loved it! I think there is an old movie called Same Time Next Year? This book is like that movie only better!

Reading this on my Kindle...totally loving it! It has captured me totally!

Reading this in real book form...a disappearance that has gone unsolved for 18 years...human remains discovered...a girl with a troubled past...and a town called Sycamore.

I am fatigued today but I have been fatigued all week. It's really cold and windy here...Den even has a headache from the wind. I had to go for a blood test today and Debbie The Nurse said I am more tired than ever because my body is really really really tired from what has been done to it. Sigh! I just need it to be warm and I just need to not feel this weariness.

This is my Wednesday!

Hugs,

Patty

An Ordinary Day!

I forgot to mention that I am also reading this...

It's from Amazon Vine and I just happened to choose it from my stacks...probably because of the cover. It's alternately about Tess and Gus and how they are in each other's lives without really being in each other's lives...at least so far. Tess is raising her very young sister because their mother died. Hope...the very young sister...is on the autism spectrum. Gus is dealing with the emotions of his parents after the death of an older more beloved brother. The book has changed from ok to really good. I find myself unable to put it down. It just reads pleasantly as well as addictively.

This one...that I started last night...is extremely good. I am barely into it but it's just really yummy...I will have more specifics about it the more I get into it. But right now yummy is my descriptive word of choice.

Golden Milk...in spite of enjoying the taste and appreciating its benefits...I need a break from it. Den still loves it and is religiously drinking it but I most definitely need to stop for a bit. Instead I am drinking turmeric and black pepper dissolved in warm water. It tastes like a gingery tea. I am still getting the health bennies of turmeric while eliminating the milky part of Golden Milk. You can also drink turmeric and black pepper in green tea...which I am also going to try.

We added a new chair to our bedroom last week which was quickly claimed by Roxie!

Why would I have 2 unopened bottles of Key Lime Juice in the pantry? But thanks to Den's eagle eyes they have not expired and if they had they would have been banished to the trash! I am making him a Key Lime Pie today.

This is dinner...Den is very excited! It's chicken in a mustardy cream sauce!

That's the extent of my ordinariness.

Sometimes I love ordinariness.

Hugs,

Patty

A Bevy Of Books!

Over the weekend...

We watched Doctor Strange...so good...Big Little Lies...so good...and various basketball games...not so good! We were cheering for Villanova but...they lost!

Over the weekend...

We made this fish dish...so yummy with the first of the season's wild caught soho salmon...actually I think it's coho? It's called Saucy Skillet Salmon from the kitchn...

Over the weekend...

I finished The Simplicty Of Cider...loved it but I loved it while it annoyed me. First annoyance...character names...Sanna? Einers? How are those pronounced? Sheesh! Second annoyance...what father does not tell his 10 year old son that his mother just died? But instead takes him on a trip to prolong his childhood...and then decides to work in an apple orchard. Double Double sheesh! And yet I still loved this book!

Over the weekend...

I started this one...I loved this author's last book so hopefully this one will follow in its footsteps.

Over the weekend I organized a few of my newest books...

This one is from Edelweiss.

Description from Amazon...

"New York Times bestselling author Mary Alice Monroe returns to her beloved Isle of Palms to tell the poignant, charming story of two women, one summer, and one very special beach house."

This is also from Edelweiss.
Description from Amazon...

"From the author of the acclaimed Jinx trilogy comes a spellbinding fantasy, perfect for fans of the School for Good and Evil series, about a young heroine fighting to save a world that would dare to tame her."

This is Edelweiss, too.
Description from Amazon...

"Spindle Fire is a lush fantasy set in the dwindling, deliciously corrupt world of the fae and featuring two truly unforgettable heroines."

This one is from NetGalley.
Description from Amazon...

"A sinister, sexy noir about art, motherhood, and the intensity of female friendships, set in the posh hills above Los Angeles, from the New York Times bestselling author of California"

This is from NetGalley.
Description from Amazon...

"Many women have walked the line between career and love, family and self. Raintree handles the balance with grace and wisdom. Her writing is clear and crisp, the emotion raw and without melodrama. From family secrets to heartbreaking lost love, the characters felt like old friends by the end. Highly recommended." -New York Times bestselling author Kate Moretti

This interesting looking one is from Amazon.

“Beguiling . . . Longworth evokes the pleasures of France in delicious detail—great wine, delicious meals, and fine company.” —Publishers Weekly

Today...

As soon as Roxie leaves my lap I am joining Den for some time in the basement...he is putting together shelves...I am working out and also randomly opening bins to look for a missing blue quilt. It makes no sense at all that it's missing...all quilts go into the same place all of the time! I have the pillow shams but the quilt is missing! Repeated requests to St. Anthony...the Saint of lost stuff...have not made my quilt reappear! Sigh!

Has this ever happened to you? You know where something is supposed to be but it's just not there?

Hugs,

Patty
