Sleeping Tight...And Other Stuff...

I had such an incredible night's sleep last night...I slept hard...I slept long or rather I thought I slept long but I actually woke up at 4:30 prepped to fall back to sleep until I realized Den was up and had been up for a while. Lucy and Roxie weren't even up but they both sleep like teenagers. So...I could have fallen back to sleep but instead Den got coffee and we watched another epi of The Fall. By the way...it's so good...so addictive...so haunting...every episode leaves us wanting more!

And...Rain...there is supposed to be a Season 4!!!

This is what we saw early this morning...off of the deck that overlooks the pond.

We changed the duvet cover yesterday...such a frustrating task...and we did it wrong! First it was inside out but we caught it before we put the comforter part in. But then once we had everything inside and clipped in the corners and buttoned...we realized it's in sideways. It was so frustrating that we haven't changed it yet. But we have to...there's about a foot of duvet on my side that's empty! Sigh!

There was an article on The Kitchen's Blog about why pork chops should be cooked liked steaks. I really want to try this. I am supposed to eat lots of meat but meat is what I haven't been hungry for but jam...if that's jam...on a chop...looks kind of interesting!

I am more hungry for pasta...

This is a BonAppetit recipe.

This is an Andie Mitchell recipe using Delallo pasta.
This one is a garlicky breadcrumby Swisschardy one from the New York Times.

For me it's yum for all three!

Books...

still fantasy tripping with this one...

and reality hitting with this one...

Have a wonderful weekend!

Make some soup!

Eat some pasta!

Stay safe!

Stay healthy!

I have more new books to share on Monday...yikes!

Hugs,

Patty

A Snowy Day!

This...so far..is the best kind of snowy day. No wind...no ice...probably no shoveling. It's actually beautiful outside. Schools are closed and it's hard to imagine we didn't even need coats yesterday. The top two photos are from our sunroom and the back deck...the bottom one is out of Den's study window.

Reading this because it reminded me of snow...it's a fantasy...and it's really good...magic and a goblin king and a stolen girl.

We are staying in and binge watching stuff on Netflix today. We are up to Season 3 of The Fall...it's so intense it's difficult to watch more than 1 or 2 at a time. But it's so good. The serial murderer on The Fall is the dysfunctional star of Thirty Shades...yikes!

Hugs...

Wintry Weather?

It's in the 60's today but tomorrow we are supposed to have 6 to 10 inches of snow. We can handle the snow...it's the wind gusts that will cause the power to go out and make a beautiful snowy day hateful. Den is out getting gas for the generator. We are trying to sneak into The Country Butcher for sandwich stuff for tomorrow and also dinner. People around here panic and within a few hours there will not be a loaf of bread or jug of milk anywhere in sight! Yikes!

In spite of what I planned to read I am reading something totally different...it's a translation of a book that was rated highly in Europe this year. I don't like translations but this story is so good that it's making the book tolerable. It's about a school shooting at a private school in Stockholm. It is the court trial of Maja who was involved in the shooting. The book is hard to put down. I read until one-ish last night and then literally passed out into sleep.

So...off to prep for snow!

Patty

Miscellaneous Thoughts...

I have learned this about myself lately...I have no loyalty to a library ebook...if I can't get into it...I send it back ASAP. There is something about this one that is not appealing to me...so today is my day to either read a bit more or return it. Most likely it will be sent back.

Probably I shouldn't have started reading this at the same time. Reading multiples is something I rarely do. But I really love this one...

Dinner dilemma...

I am really hungry for chicken...but I don't want to make it...Den is hungry for chili...and he wants to make it...so chili it is!

We are chili incompetent so we rely on this!

I want this tunic tee...it's my version of sporty! One of the things I love the most about not teaching is wearing relaxed boho clothes much of the time! Free People is one of my favorite boho sites.

One more new book...it's a fantasy...thank you Edelweiss!

From Amazon...

From the author of the New York Times bestselling Testing trilogy comes a sweeping new fantasy series, perfect for fans of Victoria Aveyard and Sarah J. Maas...

My girls this morning...Lucy will never love Roxie with the intensity that Roxie loves Lucy!

That's it for today...it's dreary here...Den has a headache from the rainy day that is about to happen...I am going to organize the chest of drawers that houses my napkin and placemat collection. Laundry...it never ends! We do my clothes one day, sheets another day, towels another day, Den's clothes another day...kitchen towels and napkins another day...five days of laundry? Yikes!

Books...

Finished...

Whew! This book was intense, maddening, fast paced and totally absorbing. It's told during the timespan of one day where the two main characters...Tom and Helen...make the worst choices I have ever seen a fictional couple make...but again...it was sooooo good! And the cover really is their neighborhood!
