The Next Book...

Choosing the next book is always a challenge for me...there will always be a next book...but it's the next next book that causes the drama...for me. That makes no sense at all...

I randomly clicked on this and now can't put it down. It's British. It involves a dysfunctional blended family. One of the daughters has done something awful that is being revealed in mysterious little pieces. This is one of my favorite kind of books.

Our weekend plan is the same...staying in and staying warm. We are watching Stranger Things and Lemony Snicket on NetFlix and Sherlock on the BBC.

I actually had outings this week! I sat in the car in the parking lots of Wegman's, the vet, the Wine and Spirit Store, Walgreen's, The Produce Patch and Country Butcher. It was exciting!

Heeheehee!

I will be back on Monday!

Hugs,

Patty

Well...Here We Sit!

Well...my O negative blood is being juiced up as I write. I am getting two baggies and it takes about 2 hours per baggie.

We have had ginger ale, crackers, lunch, and I have cleared email and finished my yummy Veronica Speedwell book...

I loved this book...Veronica is witty, clever, and funny. Stoker...her partner in "crime" is rakish and daring and dangerously handsome. This author writes so addictively. If you love historical detective books...you will love this one! I can't wait for the next one...but I do not love the cover of the second book!

Drip...drip...drip...I have had Benadryl, too, and the nurses said I should fall asleep but I think I am more twitchy than sleepy. My trusty boy sits by my side...reading, sometimes sleeping...

I am in hiding with my camo hat!

Now comes the fun part of today...trying to decide what to read next!

Hugs,

Patty

Where Were We Wednesday?

Roxie stayed in our room. She feels as though this is her bed. She needs lots of space! She does not like to share.
Lucy stayed in our room. It is her favorite room. She prefers her blanket and heated bed far away from Roxie! But...Roxie likes Lucy's bed the way she likes our bed. She often crawls in Lucy's bed when Lucy is still in it!
Note Lucy's pained look!

Den was with me at a very long treatment. He is exhausted!

My treatment was sooooo long. I am exhausted!

Book Thoughts...

I really love this book and this character but I thought about it and I now know why. Veronica Speedwell reminds me of Flavia de Luce!

Plus there is even a plant named Veronica Speedwell...

Veronica Speedwell is a historical detective...at least that's what I read. She is brash and clever and funny...it's the kind of series I love!

Edelweiss...I just love Edelweiss...delivered a few more books to my Kindle.

From Amazon...

"Brilliant. Really, really brilliant. I loved it.” (Sophie Hannah, author of The Monogram Murders)

From Amazon...

"In the ninth Ruth Galloway mystery, Ruth and Nelson investigate a string of murders and disappearances deep within the abandoned tunnels hidden far beneath the streets of Norwich."

From Amazon...

“There's so much happening in Chilbury: intrigue, romance and an unforgettable cast of characters who aren’t always as they appear. The Chilbury Ladies' Choir is a charming slice of English wartime life that warms the soul like a hot toddy."

— Martha Hall Kelly, New York Times bestselling author of Lilac Girls

“The Chilbury Ladies' Choir sinks you deep inside the rich, intricate atmosphere of an English village in the middle of war, when quiet lives are upended and secrets unravel. With her unforgettable characters and vivid narrative, Jennifer Ryan creates the kind of wartime novel that plays out over the intimate territory of the human heart—full of soul, full of hope. You’ll be thinking about this book long after the last page turns.”

— Beatriz Williams, New York Times bestselling author of A Hundred Summers and The Secret Life of Violet Grant

From Amazon...

“Savage’s skillful writing makes the characters’ pain deep and tangible, offering readers the full impact of the deaths on the town. The novel is cleverly divided into chapters of the seven body parts, propelling the search for the next clue. Prepare to be shocked, and have plenty of tissues handy. Perfect for readers of Jay Asher’s Thirteen Reasons Why (2007).” ―Booklist

Now I really want to go off and read!

Den is getting cortisone injected into his back early this morning...under light anesthesia...but all that he was thinking about this morning was how hungry he was...

The Week End & Books...

So...the week end was uneventful...but...I was really stressed and depressed on Sunday. It really doesn't happen often but every once in a while I just feel sad and sorry for me. Den holds my hands and reminds me of all the good stuff...we've had awesome progress...nothing hurts...I am mostly positive...there are incredible people in my life who are helping me through all of this...they are amazing and they are teaching me so much...Den reminds me of all of these good things. I look at him and all he has done for me over the past 6 months...he is doing anything and everything he can to make me healthy and happy and feel safe again. And I do...mostly. Even the kitties help relax me...

And none of them are bothered by my hats and weird very curly hair growing in just a little!

Books!

I don't know why I choose a book and share it because I always change my mind. This isn't what I planned to read over the weekend.

I am reading this because I won the second one from Mary and I hate reading things out of order. It's delightful! The heroine is Veronica Speedwell...she loves adventures, men and butterflies! And odd clothes!

New books!

I can't believe it but I got this one! I have wanted it ever since I saw it!

From NetGalley...

From Amazon...

"From the New York Times bestselling author of Flight Patterns comes a stunning new novel about a young single mother who discovers that the nature of friendship is never what it seems..."

From Edelweiss...
From Amazon...

"The Original Ginny Moon is a brilliant debut. In asking us to identify with a developmentally delayed, autistic teenage girl and her peculiar obsession, Ben Ludwig set himself an Olympic degree of difficulty, but he succeeds with the extraordinary Ginny Moon. I was unable to put the book down as I willed her to overcome the obstacles within and around her. Ben Ludwig is a fine observer of human dynamics, and his sometimes dark sense of humor means that the emotional journey, challenging as it is, never becomes wearing. I was mightily impressed--this novel has all the elements for critical and popular success!" -Graeme Simsion, New York Times bestselling author of The Rosie Project

From Edelweiss...
From Amazon...

"The River at Night is a dark, twisting, unrelenting thriller that kept me frantically turning the pages well into the night. Erica Ferencik skillfully combines jolting plot twists, lyrical prose, and a beautifully brutal setting, cementing The River at Night as my favorite debut novel of the year." (New York Times bestselling author Heather Gudenkauf )

I have a few more but I am saving them!

We have a wild windy day here...the beaches nearest to us our flooding...there are reports of power outages! Yikes!

Hugs,

Patty
