Monday!!!

We just came in from our walk. It's our second time walking in this beautiful place minutes from our house. It was delightful! We met a puppy...a lab doodle named P.J. I walked the trail once and Den walked it twice. He will probably start walking it three times and hopefully I will gear up to two times.

Resting!

On our way home we stopped at a local farm for corn, yellow tomatoes, green beans, potatoes, peaches, nectarines, lettuce, celery, peppers, zucchini and a jar of something I have never heard of before. I am not sure what to use it on...hot dogs?

Books!

I read the top two this past weekend.

They were both fast paced sort of psychological thrillers. I didn't read anything I thought I would read...I didn't follow my own plan. But I rarely follow my own plan. Sigh!

I have no clue what I will read this week. But...I did start this and I find I can't stop reading it...it is so good.

When we came in from our walk we had to deal with our vegetables. We bought a dozen ears of corn and Den scraped the fresh corn kernels from the cobs and we put them in freezer bags and froze them! We are going to do it again later this week. I made a yummy tomato salad loaded with green peppers and tomatoes and cucumbers and celery and a little bit of red onion. Olive oil and red wine vinegar makes it really delicious. It's a salad my mom always made in the summer. I made two loaves of rye peasant bread, too. This was a really productive day...but now I am relaxing and I am finished for the day.

Off to rest and read...

Hugs,

Patty

  1. The bread looks delicious. What a fantastic and productive day. The park looks so inviting to walk in, a little envious here!

    1. It is a sweet little park. We had no clue it was so close to us and kept bemoaning the fact that we had nowhere to walk.

  2. Ooh, I love that park, and I'm so impressed at how much you're walking! I love your kitchen, too.

Enjoy the books, the walking, and your day!

  3. Awesome place to walk! And that relish would go great on any meat. Let us know :)

  4. Sounds like a great Monday! I think getting out for a walk when the weather permits is a wonderful way to enjoy the moment. I know when I walk outside I am happier than when I walk on the treadmill (though I do like the treadmill too).

That bread looks TASTY! Yum. Also- love that you got so many fresh veggies/fruits. :)

    Hope Tuesday is wonderful too!

  5. Beautiful trail near you-- and I love Black-Eyed Susans! So pretty, which makes the walk more enjoyable.

I love to use Vidalia onions in my cooking, and that relish would be great on burgers, hot dogs, thick sandwiches, anything... even salmon or similar fish!

Did you read the first book before City on Edge, called Hostage Taker? Takes place at St. Patrick's Cathedral on the day of the lighting of the Rockefeller Christmas tree. Being a native NY'er, I enjoyed both books very much!

  6. Looks like a super nice park for walking. It's been 120 here so nope... not walking.
That relish reminds me of the Nathan's relish they sell at my market.
