A Total Eclipse Of The Sun?

Ok...but...where are all of these people taking showers and going to the bathroom? Why isn't anyone addressing this? I saw these tents set up next to each other...hundreds and hundreds of them...a camper was showing off her tent kitchen, her solar powered refrigerator...her tent that sleeps 9...but where is her bathroom? This is not for me. I may just watch everything on TV. Den said that if we go out on our deck and look at the deck floor...we will see what the sun is doing. I honestly do not get it. And honestly...I think Den is tired of my questions...and that is unusual that he has no patience for me...his one true love! I only hope the eclipse does something to the earth to make my hair grow faster...now that would be amazing!

Hair...

Yesterday our sweet neighbor came over with gifts from his garden. Salsa that he made, peppers, tomatoes, and a Japanese Eggplant that I am using today. I was hatless and didn't feel like running upstairs for one so he saw my very very very short hair...and actually I was ok with that...not venturing into the outside world without a hat but this was good for me.

Books...

Reading these...

Waiting for this one...

Off to walk!

Hugs,

Patty

Oh...first local organic apple of the season!

It was so delicious.

  1. Ooh, organic apples! The best!

I don't get the whole solar eclipse thing, either...and several TV shows have been preempted for it...UGH. LOL.

Your books are new to me. I'm reading and loving The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. Didn't get much read, as I was at brunch at my daughter's (two Sundays in a row, but this time it was just me).

I also had a line-up of DVR shows to watch.

    Enjoy your week!

I am proud of you going without your hat. Your short hair is chic.

  2. The organic apple looks yummy Patty. I know that kind of camping is not for me either. They showed it to us on our TV news here in New Zealand and all the port a loos! No thank you! We don't get the eclipse here so no scramble! Enjoy your reading.

    1. Thank you! I am so glad I am not alone in my lack of feeling for all of the Eclipse Festivities...I simply don't get it!

  4. I got sucked into the ABC news coverage of the eclipse. It was really good! We had 83% but really, our sky was total clouds so not much of anything. The daylight dimmed a bit, I guess. I think it would be really cool to experience the darkness of a total eclipse but I wouldn't camp out, that's for sure.

    1. We just got a little dark, too. I am glad it's over and done, though!

  5. We were in the path of totality and had a clear sky so the eclipse was awesome here. We had tons of visitors to the area but I didn't hear of anyone sleeping in tents.

  6. The Midnight Dance - what a lovely cover! I'm curious about that one. Here's what I'm reading this week: http://justasecondblog.blogspot.com/2017/08/what-im-reading-august-21-2017.html

  7. Fresh in-season apples, the best! I went apple-picking in a grove in Maine in the past, and remember loving my bounty! And the apple cider, apple butter, apple loaf, yum yum!

It's good that you can show yourself without your hat. I realize that you care deeply about this, but others who know you surely don't. Your neighbor was kind to bring you all those wonderful food gifts!

I watched the eclipse through approved viewing glasses with my family and we got a pretty good show though definitely not totally dark out, just a weird looking low light in the yard. Because of our proximity to SC we got a good show-- maybe 95% (or so) eclipsed here?

    Have a good week!

    1. Love anything that comes from Maine! We just had a bit of shade here, too. But...we saw a series of eclipses through the leaves on our trees...it was unique! The hat thing is a biggie for me...

  8. Because the moon, crossed in front of the sun, it casts a shadow on the ground. That is why he said to look down at the deck. We had glasses that people were willing to share here on campus so we watched. Only 70% of an eclipse for us so it dimmed a little and got cooler but not like Idaho where it literally blacked out for 2+ minutes. They said it will take days for those people in the path of totality to return home. The traffic is horrible and I bet those people leave a real mess behind.

  9. Did you have eclipse glasses? I ran around looking for some and finally got them from the library. Thank goodness I got there early. The news showed the line going around the building and by 12PM, they had given out all 12,000. One store was selling them for 15 bucks! The Eclipse was pretty cool. Saw the complete event and it got totally dark. The crickets started chirping as well as all the other "night" animals. And the street lights came on.

  10. I didn't know people were making a big deal about it till about 3 days before the event. I was totally oblivious....then I went a bit nuts! Lol!!! :-D
