The Quest For More Flowers...

We decided to go to Wolff's Apple House for more flowers today.

How can I explain Wolff's...hmmmm...I don't think I can! But...you can pretty much buy everything there...any flower in the world plus you can buy lunch there, too! Salads, pierogis, pulled pork, pickles, pasta, plus the most amazing produce! And pies! You can buy pies there! Everything they sell is as organic as you can get and as local as you can get. I am proud to say I helped two elderly gentleman spend $7.95 on a quart of local strawberries!

And I encouraged them to buy Angel Food Cake and whipped cream to have with their local berries!

I love to help people!

Here is my collage of Wolff's!

And if you are thinking we were able to walk out of there without cinnamon and pumpkin donuts...you are so wrong.

So I have arranged all of the plants the way I want them...Den is planting them...I just got my nails done!

Reading this...still...it's wonderfully good!

So...we are beautifully hot and sunny here today...but the week end is going to be cold, wet and gloomy!

Sigh!

Have an awesome week end!

Hugs,

Patty

Flowers...Foods...Books!

Flowers!

We went to Lowe's and also to a farm near us and these are the only flowers that I could use! I have a set color scheme...pinks, blues, purples, a few yellows...I know...this is more than a few yellows but I was desperate! There has been so much rain and cool weather here that lots of plants seem sort of scraggly and scrappy to me...plus...I get sort of set in my ways with flowers...I need a big fern under the front portico and big flowers in the big green pots near them...I need lots more but we may drive to Lancaster tomorrow and try some Amish nurseries there. Lowe's was really kind of sad and disappointing and so was the farm... so hopefully tomorrow will be a better day for finding flowers!

I remain hopeful!

Den is outside potting them right now!

Foods!

Epicurious just posted these...ham, Gruyere cheese, cream and eggs...yummy! Baked in muffin cups!

Food 52 posted these fudgey brownies on Facebook...

Chili Cornbread Casserole from Emily Bites...it's chili baked into cornbread! I can't even believe it!

Slow Cooker Chicken Fajita Nachos from Food Envy...I really want to make these!

Books!

Getting ready to start this one...

From Goodreads...

The Sudden Appearance of Hope is the tale of the girl no one remembers. But this gripping story – of love and loss, of hope and despair, of living in the moment and dying to leave a mark – is a novel that will stay with you for ever.

I am off to check on Den's work with my plants!

Patty

The Weather!

I am spending too much time with this book but it is so good. Cece is married but has this obsessive need to be with Joan. Cece says it's to make sure Joan is ok...Joan...who drinks and has secrets and goes off with men...but Cece's obsession is getting really weird! This book is big! Texas oil money, designer clothes, nannies, maids...it's a big old Texas big money kind of book!

And I am finally done!

It is another dreary weird 52 degree day here on the East Coast!

I can't even remember what it's like to sit out on the deck. Our deck furniture isn't even out yet! No flowers have been planted! It's a very weird spring!

We see little glints of sun...we get all excited...and then it's gone and it's gloomy again!

Even my girls are depressed!

We feel very gloomy here!

We need flowers and sun and heat!

Up next...I think I thought this was going to be a beach book...but it's about Anton Chekhov and a lost manuscript. I may be way out of my comfort zone here...sigh!

Patty

These Are Some Of The Books!!!

For some odd reason I have been analyzing my reading tastes this week end.

So...what I have discovered is this!

The books that grab me the most are books like these...these character driven kind of long involved stories that might not be fast paced or page turners but ones that you can't tear yourself away from. The characters can be so flawed or sweet or driven that I never really ever forget them.

Then here are just a scant few of my beloved fantasies. Lovely good main characters who fight against villains and creatures of the underworld and bad magic...characters who do whatever they can to fight evil...again and again and again! I read them all and yearn for more!

Then there are those tormented...yet delicious...mean girl, love struck, bullied, misunderstood characters in the YA books I love to read.

And then there are the books that I read that really don't fall into my preferred genres...I call these my "odd men or women out" books. I have no idea why I am drawn to them! Sometimes they work for me...sometimes they don't!

I love categorizing!

At this moment in time I am reading this...

And this...

And absolutely loving both!

And new books this week? I will chat about them tomorrow...

Have a great day!

Hugs,

Patty
