Books...Sandwiches...Beachy Thoughts!

Still reading this...it is really good but I don't think it will ever end! And the twists just keep on coming.

I needed a break from Eva and David and Jim yesterday so I read this one...so sweet, so sad but such a beautiful book for middle graders! I thought I would cry when Flip the dog came along...practically in the first pages but it was lovely...I highly recommend it!

Sandwiches!

This one is from The Kitchn...sort of a roasted tomato tartine!

Avocado toasts from Serious Eats!

And...for Cinco de Mayo...a Nacho Pie from The Kitchn!

The Beach!

If we do this beach thing...the next decision is...town home or cottage.

These are the Townhomes but we would only build an end unit. It has three bedrooms, a loft, 2.5 bathrooms...and is the perfect size for the four of us. We would have absolutely no maintenance at all...not a thing!

The cottages are just a bit bigger but there is more to take care of. We keep coming back to the townhouses. The lot Den loves has a straight shot to the water...we can walk or bike there easily!

I know I am boring everyone with this but for the first time ever in this process we feel sort of good! My stomach doesn't hurt and the thought of spending half of our time at the beach...OMG! Plus I will have time to go through this house for an eventual sell...when we are totally ready. We have so much furniture...here and stored...that we playfully are already stacking stuff for the beach house!

These were my first set of casual dishes...they have been boxed for years...Wedgewood...I loved them and never had the heart to give them away. But they are the perfect beach dishes! I think I have serving pieces and settings for 10 or 12! And I have a set of silverware put away...my first set!

But we could be only dreaming...nothing is definite yet! So...thank you for bearing with me!

Cheers!

Patty

  2. I think my vote would be no maintenance too, but either would be wonderful.

That nacho pie looks delicious, too.

  3. The word cottage just sounds so cute, but I understand about not wanting maintenance since you won't be there all the time. The middle grade book looks like one my tween would read. She is very good about sticking to appropriate books and knows her mama doesn't want her reading high school settings quite yet.

    1. It's a really sweet book...I am trying to remember if there was any iffy language but I don't think so...

  4. I like the townhouses, too! My dad lives five minutes from Ft. Walton Beach. I asked my stepmom if they ever eat dinner on the beach and she said hardly ever. They don't even GO and they're five minutes away. I can't imagine! We have dinner at one of the lake restaurants here at least every couple of weeks, especially on nice evenings. It feels like being on vacation.

  5. The cottage would have a little maintenance, but I would go for it so I don't share a wall with someone. It's nice to have a little space between neighbors, especially if they aren't the best neighbors. We only have a 1/2 acre lot and only 1/2 of that has to be mowed. I can do the lawn in an hour. There are always maintenance companies that could take care of things for you as well, until you make the move permanent... We really need to get together and chat next time you get down here.

    1. Yes...but we are leaning more toward the townhouse because this wouldn't be full time...

  6. You have to live at the beach if only for those dishes!! I'm a cottage girl - don't want to hear anyone else's life going on, lol. You'll make the right decision for you. And that cover of When Friendship Followed Me Home is so sweet!

    1. Mary...I think I am in "relove" with these dishes all over again...I almost gave them away! But...aren't they perfect for a little beach cottage?

  7. No maintenance is great! That idea is what drove me here, after all my years maintaining my A-frame with guesthouse...although it was fun having it.

Love the nachos! Almost forgot it was Cinco de Mayo...will have to eat my Mexican food on the weekend.

  8. I love cottages, I lived in one for a few years. But, the townhouse has a straight shot to the water so that would seal the deal for me. Plus no maintenance sounds really good.
