Just In Case You Were Wondering?

We have not made any decesion about Bethany Beach yet. Den is in 100%. I am the hold out. I bet that surprises you?

Today we are spending the day in the basement...tearing through more stuff...we realize that we have enough stuff to almost furnish a small beachy home...that in itself is freaking me out. Because I decorate seasonally...I have summer paintings, sailboats, buoys, jars of shells, throws and more. Yikes!

Over to books!
I finished "The Girls" late last night. I did not love it as much as other reviewers. Evie...the main character was weak and sad. She is a product of divorced parents and a prime target for hanging out with a Charles Manson like cult. There were good parts and good writing but it didn't speak to me. The dirt, the mess, the drugs and the sex and rock and roll was unappealing. Evie was only fourteen when she became infatuated with an older girl and was brought by her to the farm...the cult. Again..interesting but not a book I loved.

Reading this...

From Amazon..."haunting novel from the author of The Weight of Blood about a young woman’s return to her childhood home—and her encounter with the memories and secrets it holds"

Just started it so no real thoughts about it yet.

Still reading this at night on my Kindle...I really don't want this book to end!

We are off to the basement!

It is raining and dreary here today.

Hugs,

Patty

  1. I think you and Den sound like me and Carl when it comes to decision making. The Girls sounds oddly appealing to me.

    1. We are so lousy at decision making...you might like The Girls...I don't know why I didn't...it might have been when they stopped taking care of their clothes....lol...

  2. It's a big decision, so I don't blame you! I always say I'd love to move to the beach but if I couldn't live ON the beach, I don't think so. A writer I know recently moved to Florida and she lives about a five-minute drive to the beach. I'd want to be right there, where I could see the water every day--and that's just WAY too expensive, I guess?

    1. Stephanie...not sure...where we would be we would walk a few minutes and be at the beach. I am not sure I want to live exactly on the beach...hurricanes...etc...but I am not sure of anything lately! For a while we had a realtor in Nashville and thought we wanted to be there...so...that's why we are not sure of anything!

  3. Oh, I don't envy you the task of sorting out the basement stuff.

I hope I like The Girls more than you did, but it's always a toss-up for me when I don't know the author.

I hope you are enjoying your other books...also unknown authors for me.

  5. Buying property is a big decision. If you buy that beach house that is only for some of the year, will you stay where you are now then or still look for another permanent property? Perhaps making a list of comparison and pros & cons will help see everything in a clearer perspective?

    1. Making that list is key...we are going back next week to feel the vibe again! I don't want to keep this house...it's a ton of work!

  6. It's a huge decision. Take your time and feel good about it. Kind of nice that Den is on board though.

  7. Such a tough decision!! And the decision-making process is painful...

The Girls sounds pretty appealing to me, but I thought your review on goodreads was great. The other two books look good, too.

    1. It was good...I think that I just didn't like that weird hippy era.
