A Post About Nothing...

I swear parts of that title came from an old Seinfeld show? Ti, help me out here!

I am doing nothing today, nada, zip, nothing! Well, nothing other than playing with Roxie, reading, and watching Season Three of the BBC's Luther...which is really freaky.

This is what I am reading and it's good...it's about two sisters who are very different...and rarely keep in touch with each other. They decide to use snail mail to stay in touch more. The letters seem to give each sister the strength needed to deal with certain issues but somehow one sister goofs and the letters end up on the Internet. Uh oh...

So...other than that...I "got nothin"...
Have a great week end and unless I pop in...I will see you on Monday!

Short...Sweet...Yet A Long Day!

This has been such a frenzied week...and we almost forgot that the chimney cleaner/chimney capper was coming today. I believed Den when he told me that no one needed to be inside the house...everything was going to be done from the outside. Hah! I should have known better because everything was done from inside...except for the chimney cap which they forgot to bring. They covered everything but still...all I wanted to do was start getting all of my Santas out...but that didn't happen...the girls and I stayed upstairs marooned and barricaded in our room. Den brought us lunch and a root beer and a candy cane...to make up for his transgressions. It wasn't nearly enough. No Santas came out today and the chimney boys still have to come back! The builder did not want to put a cap on our chimney for esthetic reasons but we are really tired of rescuing birds! At least every few weeks we hear flapping and we have to catch the bird in a net and get him outside...it sounds easy but Den uses a mirror and my wooden spoons to try to herd the bird out and into the net. My job is to open the sunroom door so he can let the bird fly away! Then the spoons get stuck in the fireplace somewhere but they got vacuumed out today! Ick!

So...since I was stuck upstairs with the girls I finished this sweet sad lovely little book.
Now I am reading this...two sisters, Facebook, email and a ton of dysfunction! Yum!
I love that it's after nine and I am just now blogging!
Nighty Night!

So Tired!

So...dinner was truly lovely with my boys! One is leaving for his wife and the U.K. tomorrow night...the other is here a while longer but missing his collie who had to stay at home...he is very sad about her because he says he is no longer her number one...she is more in sync with his housemate...who is with her all of the time...but...when we finally let the girls out of confinement...he was happier! Roxie flew through the house in leaps and bounds. Den caught her mid jump when she tried to jump on the table! Lucy just circled the downstairs trying to herd us to bed and them to their car...yelling the entire time! We were all in hysterics at their antics! My girls!

Today was Hair Day! The one hour and one minute drive to Skippack to get those nasty grays blended away...my stylist chopped off about 3 inches from the back but it's longer on the sides...sort of a long bobbed bob!
So...up early...not back home until after 3:30...long day yesterday...we are exhausted...I am not leaving this house tomorrow!
Starting this! It's a sweet tiny little book! Teeny tiny! Itty bitty!
So tired...Benedryl now and Dramamine this morning! I fell asleep in the car on the way home!
Til' tomorrow!

Why Is It?

Here is the thing...why is it that when you start cleaning one thing...there is always something next to it that has to be cleaned...I give up! I am resting and reading and Den is downstairs vacuuming. The girls are resting with me. They have both had foamy dry baths...and their teeth brushed but they have to stay in our room while we have guests for dinner. Roxie is too curious...she has already killed my snowmen napkin rings. And...I set up wine glasses on a table in the sunroom and watched her precariously weave her way through them. It's like having toddlers...seriously...Tonks are fascinated by everything! This little peaceful down time is delightful...oh...we also fed them tuna...it calms them and they nap!

Reading this...
Off to read a bit, chill a bit, and then prep for dinner with all of my boys!
Have a great evening!

Oh No!

First of all...I responded to one of Den's associates in a note and didn't catch a spelling error! It was pretty basic...there/their...and it could have been my ridiculous iPad self correcting...but still...the teacher part of me is furious! Am I falling into that gray area where I don't see mistakes? How can this happen? To me? The part of me that wants things perfect will worry over this all day long!

Yesterday was a never ending series of events...we have some "boys" coming over for dinner...on Tuesday...they are ending their work time here and going back to the UK...so we wanted wreaths up, candles in all of the windows, boughs in baskets, branches resting on my outside benches and holiday stuff inside...getting the trees up is not possible on the same day as wreaths...and getting all of the Christmas stuff out is not possible...but we are trying!

So...yesterday we had to get wreaths, get to Pier 1 for the best room spray ever and Wegman's for food stuff. We started out early and made great time until Wegman's...when our fast pace slowed to a crawl! This store is still so crowded! The aisles are nearly impassable! So, of course, we became frustrated, cranky and irritated with each other! Den was whining because he only ate a doughnut at the wreath place and he wanted breakfast and he was hungry and I felt as though I had taken a seven year old shopping! He did not realize that I was on a mission! Oh...and the other thing was that we usually get our wreaths from the same place every year but I wanted to go to a different place because the newsletter said that the little sweet owner tied every bow on every wreath by hand!

Bad move on my part...she might have been sweet but her bows were...hmmm...not so pretty...so it took longer to find the perfect wreaths...but I did! The fern is going but the weather is so mild I hated to part with it!

Now...dinner...

Den and I wanted to create an American dinner for our friends...so we thought meatloaf...but not an ordinary one...our butcher made us a mix of sirloin and filet and brisket...and I made a trial meatloaf last night...with a recipe from Bon Appetit...and it was lovely...very steak like? And I am making baby Hasselback potatoes...when you take them out of the oven you drizzle them with a tiny bit of runny honey...and Gorgonzola cheese...they were awesome and the baby potatoes cut into Hasselback ones were so yummy! And I am making chocolate cake and a key lime pie for dessert...both are easy recipes...and green beans...

I am using this recipe from Chef Jamie Oliver...

Yep...making another meaty loaf on Tuesday unless I have the butcher roast me a cut of something else...what to do? What to do?

I am not good at cooking for more than two people...seriously! Whew!

Books!

I read this over the weekend...and LOVED it! It's a unique and clever book about how James Hook...a twelve year old boy...meets Peter Pan one night in Kensington Gardens and how he is tricked into going to NeverNeverland! And how terrible Peter Pan really is! This book was fantastic for me!

Reading this...I love Julie Kagawa's books...this is part of a trilogy...and it's awesome, too!
I am off to do something!
I pray that there/their are no spelling errors in this post! But seriously? My iPad self corrector is holding me hostage!
Have a great day!
