Friday's Mix!

Den has been away all week...in the wild wildernesses of Minnesota and South Dakota. Everything he does there is three hours from the airport! He walked 10,000 steps at the Mall Of America before dinner. And played around in this baby...he is exhausted...he's used to working 1 day a week...this new schedule is...well...exhausting...heeheehee! But he is off all next week to play and go to movies and regroup. I want to see the next James Bond movie and the Brooklyn movie!

Den came home to put these together!
One down...one to go! Of course he has a helper/supervisor!
Books...I am just a bit overwhelmed...I think. Not by reading because I love that but by tracking...which I hate...for some reason even if I say that I don't think I can read this book...I still get the book and now I have a list of maybe books which is sort of undermining me. I feel so bad for the maybe books. So because I feel bad I end up reading something totally new...sigh! It's a book conundrum?
Reading these...I am in that fantasy mood again...
I hope to finish both and read this one by Monday...and none of these are maybe books!
So...this week end is some shopping...my Amish Quilting Lady finished one quilt and I get to go get it and take her the binding for the next two quilts...more football...and...that's it!
Have a great weekend!
I will be back on Monday!
Fondly,
Patty

Should We Blame Den?

Here is the thing. My family has always had dogs...we love dogs! Cats were an unknown entity to my brothers and sister other than Mama Kitty. She belonged to the elderly couple who lived next door. Not a friendly kitty at all. As children we were afraid of her.

Then I met Den. He had a beautiful Siamese cat...Suki. Suki hated me. But...Den was living in Florida. I was in Ohio. Our wedding was in Ohio. Den was transferred to San Francisco a few months before our wedding. So after our wedding...that's where we were going to live. Anyway...Suki was flown to Ohio...fell in love with my dad and he with her. And she remained in Ohio with my dad forever.

Patty and Den were cat less...for awhile. Then came Sammy! My first ever kitty of my own...a beautiful Siamese boy. I took him everywhere. When ever I would go to visit my parents...Sammy came, too. When we went to visit Den's parents...he came, too. I think he had his own frequent flyer miles! Whenever we got bumped to first class I would take him out of his carrier and the flight attendants would feed him turkey from sandwiches.

When I taught very young children...Sam would come to school with me. I have photos of him with baby chicks nestled into his fur...all of them sleeping. My kids would beg for Sammy Stories. Sammy often got Valentines...he had his own Valentine box...he was a great motivator for writing classes.

When my parents were living and all of us came home for every holiday...our kitties came, too. My cats have been over brushed, played with, dressed in baby clothes, fallen asleep in baby buggies, ridden around town in bike baskets and treated like royalty. They even had their own treat cabinet in my dad's kitchen and they never forgot where it was.

Sammy, then Katie, then Libby and now Lucy and Roxie. The only cat my dad didn't know is Roxie. So...it's Den's fault that we all now love kitties!

I am slowly realizing that two of my nieces now have cats and now one more is sort of trying to convince her parents that she needs this one! In spite of Den being responsible for introducing cats to my family...I think I am being blamed! Heeheehee! My nieces are kitty rescuers! They save kitties. They work with feral kitties. They love kitties!

So...one of my nieces has never had a kitty nor do her parents want a kitty. Enter Luna...found in the rain all alone shivering dirty cold. My niece saved her. My niece loves her. Her future is uncertain right now...sweet Luna!

So...should she stay or should she go?
Fondly...
Patty

Wednesday Thoughts...

Wegman's is coming! Yep! We are getting a Wegman's. They are unbelievable. Food courts, craft beer, bistros...it's over the top! Our roads are a mess because they are reconfiguring traffic lights for the grand opening this weekend. Sunday is the grand opening...we might go on Monday...if the traffic is cleared...heeheehee! My fave restaurant big white everyday dinner plates came from Wegman's. I need more.

Eileen Fisher...love these clothes! This is her newest "dress three ways"...

Love the shoes and booties, too!
Reading this...
And this...
Fall front door...
Happy thoughts!

Thoughts...

Den is working all day long today so the girls and I are free...I tidied, I cleaned, I ran errands...and now I am in a book and TV slump. I have to check on the polar bears, brush the girls' little kitty teeth...and I am done for the day...

We watched this...I love this show! The second season started on Sunday!

I finished this but it just wasn't what I thought it would be. Patick Ness is hugely popular but I did not love this book. I think I should have read A Monster Calls first...but I didn't...I really hate when I think something is going to be so amazing and it isn't...for me any way.
Reading this...but...I am beginning to think that I love Middle Grade books more than YA...
I also started this on my Kindle last night. I am trying to fall asleep with the TV off...I just read a study that said that kind of light from the screen can cause cancer? Sort of freaking out about that study...but this is the kind of book I love...evil, witches, betrayal...and a quest! I love a good quest!
Time to tackle those kitty teeth...heeheehee! The girls will not be pleased...they appear to be plotting against me!

Back With Books...

This was a blissfully calm and relaxing weekend! I was able to talk Den out of anything boring that he wanted to do. His plan was to wash windows, caulk stuff, and clean all of the outdoor lights. Instead we just relaxed. He is working four days this week and I know that schedule will be crazy for him. He hasn't worked days in a row like this in ages so I just wanted him to relax all weekend. So we did. While football was on...I read these...

Dumplin'...an overweight teen, bullies, first love, passion, misfits...total YA but a really awesome book...one of those "good for you" kind of books.

The Vanishing Island...a middle grade romp...1599, map makers, adventure, and just enough creepy stuff to make this book fun...the first in a series.

The Rest Of Our Lives...unique...amazing...still reading this one.

New books...mysteries, fiction, science fiction, YA...love an assortment!
My newest passion...watching polar bears live on explore.org. I just keep the app on my iPad and watch polar base literally walk up to a tundra buggy! It's amazing!
Love this app!
Have a great day!
