Random Friday Stuff!

I spent my entire morning reorganizing bathroom shelves...sorting lip colors and makeup and moisturizers and mascaras and hair stuff and tossing out old stuff...it was fun...the results are freeing and my world is so much more organized...now I have what I need at a glance...I even washed brushes!

Still obsessing over just the right winter lip color for me...three finalists are...these...all at Nordstrom's. I have tons of reds...I want a deep dark berry...hmmm...

Still obsessing over these...again Nordstrom's...so holidayish?

I promised that I would make this for Den tomorrow...a homemade version of Campbell's Bean With Bacon Soup. Apparently it's a classic for boys raised in Denver! Den swears it's his fave! My recipe comes from an amazing blog called taste and tell. You have to have bread and butter with it, too!
Reading this still...almost done...
Up next...
Or one of these...it's a long football weekend!
Let's chat again on Monday! Have lovely weekends!

Just How Warm Should We Be?

Den and I spent an hour today feeling duvet inserts...you know the comforter that goes inside the duvet? Did we want allergy free, almost warm, too warm, goose down, or almost goose down? Who knew there were so many choices? And in the midst of deciding...Bed Bath And Beyond had a power outage! The entire store was dark...really dark...and Den and I were stuck in a corner with about a hundred inserts all around us! Creepy!

So...we made our decision...came home...stuffed our duvet with it...which is so annoying...buttoned the bottom only to realize one of us skipped a button so it had to be rebuttoned, put it on our bed and watched Roxie smoosh herself into it as though she would never move. Then we got under it and were so hot we were freaking out! So...we folded it up...another impossible task...and put it away until it gets colder. Den does not want to give up on it...yet!

After watching Panera's Roasted Turkey And Avocado Sandwich commercials for two weeks...I had to have one...so that was lunch today! Panera's was so packed! Everyone must have had the same idea! It was so delicious. It comes with a pickle and a little bag of chips! Yum!

Reading this...it's really good...private school in California...a handsome fae...a classmate whose twin just died...I am into it!
I am switching out my other choice for this one...a little boy disappears...his anguished mother cherishes his five steps saved in cement...and then she meets a psychic. Uh oh!
I am exhausted!

Torrents and Deluges And Tons Of Rain!!!

I can read up a storm on rainy days and rainy nights! These two are done!

Shallow Graves gave me my nightmare fix for a year...but it was really really good.

Loved this book but it had the most awkward girl crush ever...for a sister in law...eek!

And now I am in the mood for two books at a time...one real...one virtual...yum!
Dinner is this...Turkey Taco Salad from The Kitchn!
I really want to make this...also from The Kitchn....Pumpkin Bread! Maybe tomorrow...
I think Roxie thinks this pumpkin is hers!
Have a lovely evening...oh...apparently a blimp is loose over my Pennsylvania skies and is taking out power lines!
Oh my!
We still have power!

Why I Love October by Patty!

It is the month of many birthdays! Plus our anniversary is just before this festivus of birthdays. Roxie's is first, then mine and then Den's. By the time Den's rolls in we are all sick of cake...here are the cakes in order of their appearance.

Anniversary...

Roxie's birthday...
My birthday...
Interim pie...to celebrate football...
By the time it gets to Den...the cake shrinks to one serving...and I didn't even want a bite.
Reading this...weird, kind of ghoulish, perhaps a tad confusing but I can't put it down...I started that Kindle read at night thing when I wake up too early.
Reading this...English country house, dysfunctional families...so far it's good...
Another reason I love October is because I start to focus on cool weather clothes...my latest obsession? Swingy trapeze dresses! From Nordstrom's and Karen Kane...short sleeved with a yummy scarf...long sleeved, turtlenecked and even one with sparkles! There are more but I am restraining myself. Tights, booties, long cardies...I love them all! I love toss on clothes that can be worn anywhere without thinking about them!

Ok...I must go outside and try to help rake leaves...we have so many leaves!

Have a great day!

I'm Back!

Love Monday mornings! Today is Den's birthday! I fed the girls their breakfast early so that Den could sleep in...they still woke him up...I brought him breakfast in bed...I am prepared to make him anything he wants for dinner or take him out...whatever! I am all in for Den today! The girls are all in for Den today! Hey Den...it's your day! From your little family! Lucy never sits in Den's lap but this morning she sat in his lap and blinked at him! That is supposed to be a cat's way of saying I love you! Roxie hasn't stopped racing around the house long enough to even see Den...whew!

Finished these over the weekend...loved House Of Thieves! Mobs and gangs and heists and robberies at the start of the 1900's...wicked fun. Plus this book was full of surprises!

Loved this one, too, but Mark Twain was a creep!
Just started this one...from Amazon Vine...it's already yummy!
Reading this one on my Kindle...it's already weird...but in a good way!
New books...from Edelweiss, NetGalley and Vine...
From Goodreads...

"Reader, I murdered him.

A darkly brilliant Gothic retelling of Jane Eyre from the Edgar-nominated author of The Gods of Gotham."

From Goodreads...

"In this insightful and compelling story from book club favorite Susan Mallery, three close friends test the boundaries of how much a woman can give before she has nothing left..."

From Goodreads...
"An award-winning, internationally bestselling author makes her American debut with this taut, riveting domestic drama with the compulsive intensity of The Good Girl, The Pocket Wife, and The Stranger, about a long-lost brother convicted of a horrifying crime and a sister’s fight to clear his name."
From Goodreads...

"“A fresh, gritty debut. Boyce unveils one of the best new series characters in ages. . . A book that combines fast-paced suspense with moving insights.”—#1New York Times-bestselling author Lisa Gardner

From Amazon...

"Natasha Solomons’s breathtaking new novel has it all: a love triangle, family obligations, and rediscovering joy in the face of grief, all set against the alluring backdrop of an English country estate perfect for fans of Downton Abbey."

So...that's it for me...off to bother Den about the best way to spend his special day...he doesn't want to do what I want him to do! What's up with that?
Chow!
