Stuff...

Our shrubs were delicious but they did not look like the ones in the recipe! They were supposed to be clear on top but ours were totally purple all the way through!

This really different book came to me a few days ago...The author went in search of pietons or pedestrian crossing signs...he stood on ladders and photographed them all around Paris! But the really neat thing is that you can match them up on google maps! Very unique!
From the book...
Almost finished with this...it's just a fun book with maddeningly irritating characters...but I am enjoying it...
This is dinner...Pioneer Woman's Chicken Taco Salad...
Lucy had her senior kitty 6 month check up today...she is not a happy camper...at all...sigh! Too many people poking her!
We have a concert this week end...Peter Cetera...from Chicago...performing with a symphony orchestra...excited!
So...have a great week end!
I will see you on Monday...with new books, thoughts and adventures!

Bracing For Gusty Winds And Hail!

The only good thing about our weather forecast is that if we lose power it's not that horrible because our refrigerator is empty...we will just be without AC. And Internet. And TV. And lights.

Sigh!

Reading this...I wasn't going to but I read the summary and just kept on reading...three friends...summer lake house...issues...really good!

Have you had a Summer Fruit Shrub yet? We are having our first this evening. I cooked 1 1/2 pounds of berries in simple syrup and then let them cool. Then I strained them. I added 3 tablespoons of vinegar to the strained fruit. Now they are chilling. Next we will shake them in a martini shaker with ice...add gin or vodka or fizzy water...pour over more ice and drink. This recipe came from Bonappetit! Don't they look beautiful? You can buy premade Shrub Mix but I wanted to do it this way.
New coloring book!
Inside pages...not my coloring...but...so much fun.
I love having the coloring table in the sunroom...any time I have a few minutes...on the phone...waiting...etc...it's coloring time! I am usually joined by Roxie and Lucy...who are always fascinated with the pencils!
Off to read and watch the rain come pounding down!

Lots Of YA! Hurray!

For some reason I have an overload of new YA to read...and here they are! Some are real and sad...some are real and funny, some are fantasy...one is based on a real life incident. I love reading these in the summer.

"A delightful and enchanting novel that uses sly wit and assured style to subvert expectations while it always, unfailingly, entertains. I loved it!" —Kate Elliott, author of the Spiritwalker series

"What We Saw is a smart, sensitive, and gripping story about the courage it takes to do what’s right. If you’re looking for your next favorite YA author, look no further. Aaron Hartzler’s got what it takes." (Deb Caletti, National Book Award Finalist for HONEY, BABY, SWEETHEART)

"Fresh, funny, and full of heart: not to be missed." (Kirkus Reviews (starred review))

"A beautifully written story about two teens who find each other in spite of what might seem like insurmountable problems." (Examiner.com (5 star review))

From Amazon..."Imagine a time when the gods turn a blind eye to the agony of men, when the last of the hellions roam the plains, and evil stirs beyond the edges of the map. A time when cities burn, and in their ashes, empires rise."

Actually...after I finished this yesterday and thought about it more...the last part of it was really good...really good...which makes me wonder why I wasn't into most of it...hmmmm...

So...it is so hot here...so very hot...Den, Roxie, Lucy and I have aches, we are cranky, we are heated up and hot, and we are crabby. Nothing makes us happy this week. It's too hot to do anything fun! The AC is on constantly...even the refrigerator is warmer...sigh! The air is hot and heavy...a feeling of malaise is upon us. I hate walking outside in this kind of heat...and...its supposed to be this way through Friday!
All these two do is irritate each other! Roxie slammed into Lucy this morning...literally knocking her off of her little kitty feet! It's the heat!
Trying to stay cool, be cool and keep my cool!

A Hodge Podge Of Stuff!

Finished this...I think I didn't love it because the main character of interest was named Tiny...her sister's name was Pepper...and they weren't at all nice. Sigh!

I have been a chef a lot today! I made Sirachi Lettuce Wraps for lunch...Summer Minestrone is simmering away for dinner and I finally remembered to add raisins to the remainder of my oatmeal cookie dough that has been in the refrigerator. These cookies are yummy chewy delicious!
Love this dress...in all three colors!

Want this chicken salad sandwich from The Kitchn...
Love this cookbook!
I want to make these!
I love the inside art!
Love these condos in Charleston...actually Daniel Island! Would it be fun to live without tons of outside chores?
I just heard a huge crash and thud...apparently Roxie made a move that knocked Lucy off and she landed on her back...my poor baby! Roxie didn't mean it but Lucy is so fragile...the fall scared Roxie, too! Now they are both crying...

That's all she wrote!
Have a great day!
