Lessons Learned...

I think I am getting over my total obsession with Cinema Suites. I still do love the big oversized seats and armrests and foot rests...but I think the popcorn made me really have a queasy tummy all night long...and I ordered an iced tea that was so sweet I could not even drink it. So...the server came by and asked if he could fix it with half sweet half unsweetened and that tasted even sweeter...which was sad because the tea was so delicious but not drinkable...does that make sense? Plus add the 3D queasiness...sigh!

Finished this and it was really a fun book to read...in spite of the weird cover. The book describes Mary as being very beautiful! It's historical fiction and Mary gets to question Thomas Edison, Nicholas Tesla and J.P.Morgan, as well as whomever invented Coca Cola. Should I know who that is?

Tomorrow is Flag Day! Love these from NATION LTD.
Just finished this...I have never read any of this author's work before but I kind of loved this one!

Staying in tonight...grilling lamb chops and having a salad of local lettuces! Other than washing these...which is a pain...these lettuces are so delicious!

I am outta here!
Happy Saturday!

3D Headache?

3D is not good for me...not only does it freak me out but also I can't control myself! I am the screamer! Well...not really a scream but that sharp intake when you see something that is totally frightening! We saw Jurassic World this afternoon and it was scary good! But I think 3D makes me feel slightly carsick! I had to take my glasses off and look away at times. Plus Den kept trying to shoosh me! How dare he! I think I love Velociraptors!

Reading this...it's got a funny cover but it's so good...the main character is just like Nancy Drew! Mary...is her name...it's old fashioned but really good!

Off to cook linguini! Yum!
Have a lovely Friday evening!

What Happened To Wednesday?

I was so busy yesterday that I forgot to even look at my blog! How does that happen? Yesterday was a blur of yard work and laundry and just ordinary stuff...I had 6600 steps on my fitbit by noon! When we finally stopped moving...before we showered...we sat on the deck with the kitties. It was so peaceful...they were in their tents on big pillows sound asleep and I just read...it is getting really warm here and we can feel the air pressure change. It was hot but the side deck was shady and cool. I was reading this book...which I did not love...it was like reading Out Of Africa rather than watching the movie...it was just not a good book for me.

Book description from Amazon...
""Exceedingly clever and surprisingly unsettling, Damage Done is an unforgettable read." --Melissa Marr, New York Times bestselling author of Made for You

"In her incredible debut novel, Amanda Panitch leaves you on the edge of your seat. Prepare to be stunned. Prepare to be torn apart." --Roxane Gay, New York Times bestselling author of Bad Feminist

"A brilliant thriller. Gillian Flynn for the YA set." --Amy Christine Parker, author of Gated

"22 minutes separate Julia Vann’s before and after. Before: Julia had a twin brother, a boyfriend, and a best friend. After: She has a new identity, a new hometown, and memories of those twenty-two minutes that refuse to come into focus. At least, that’s what she tells the police. Now that she’s Lucy Black, her fresh start has attracted the attention of one of the hottest guys in school. And someone much more dangerous. She thought her brother’s crimes were behind her. But now she’s being forced to confront the dark secrets she thought were safely left behind. How far will Julia go to keep her slate clean? One thing is clear: The damage done can never be erased. It’s only just beginning. . . .

In this deliciously twisted contemporary thriller, family can be a real killer. For fans of We Were Liars and readers who love unique multiple perspectives that leave clues like breadcrumbs until they reach the stunning conclusion."

Even if you don't read YA...doesn't this sound tempting?

From the Hardcover edition.

Taking it easy today...I need a day off...

Have a good one!

Tuesday's Trivial Pursuits!

Den and I are trying to explore really unique places within a two hour drive from our house...so...we are going to go here soon! Once we park the car...we won't leave...there are six restaurants that we can walk to...a mystery book store...bike trails...and water! Adirondack chairs are every where...all we want to do is not clean litter boxes and sit outside and read...but we still have flat screen TV, cable, AC and wifi! It's our perfect getaway! It's a really old town filled with history...Oxford, Maryland.

Salads...that's what is on my mind for lunch today plus I am craving deviled eggs! We are having salads topped with tuna salad for lunch and I am making Martha Stewart's deviled eggs for later!
Dinner...one of our faves...

Some interesting new books...all from NetGalley...love NG because the books are so easy to carry around...lol!
From Amazon..." A stunning debut about how grief can open the world in magical ways.

Retreating into a silent world of imagination, she crafts a plan to prove her theory--even if it means traveling the globe, alone. Suzy's achingly heartfelt journey explores life, death, the astonishing wonder of the universe...and the potential for love and hope right next door."

A Ho Hum Kind Of Day!

I spent most of today listening to Den cough...what he thought were allergies seem to be a chest cold. Lucy slept on him last night so he must be sick...she only stays with him if she senses he doesn't feel well. So...whatever we had planned for today got cancelled...I made Den go to bed and stay there! He lumbered back downstairs to promptly fall asleep in a chair with Roxie. I think she is guarding him...lol. Tonks are rumored to sense when you need them...

I spent the day reading this...sort of a YA Sherlock Holmes book that was excellent!

We are not sure that we are eating tonight...if we are eating we are having this...The pioneer woman's sesame noodles...
and Bonappetit's soy glazed chicken thighs...
And pie...more mixed berry pie! It is sooooooo yummy!
But we will see...Tony's are on tonight!
For now...I am outta here!
