Saturday!

We zipped around town...we took my sister Paula to her fave yarn store here. We went to Country Butcher for a porchetta sandwich...tonight we are going to dinner...we started out for a walk but it rained! Now my sister and Roxie are coloring...Lucy and I are reading...life is good!

Really not into this...tense and scary...dark and creepy...a huge "ick" factor running through it!
Happy Saturday! I will be back on Monday!

Short And Sweet!!!

Loved this book! All Napa Valley wine country...tons of family dysfunction...it's just really awesome. What do you do when your wedding is five days away and you find out your fiancé has a child with his ex girlfriend? Hmmm...
My sister Paula is here visiting! This was a crazy day! Lots of great wine and good food! More fun tomorrow!
This book is up next...I need to stay awake long enough to actually read some of it! This one is a mystery...I will share more tomorrow!
Roxie has decided to take over my sister...she refuses to leave her alone...right now she is in her room waiting for her to get out of the shower...it is too funny...both of my cats adore my sister...who hasn't owned a kitty ever...Lucy has always loved Paula...they want to sit on her or next to her...they are actually ignoring us and preening over Paula!
We have had a really long day! Have an awesome night! Peace out!

Way Too Busy!!!

This week has been crazy! Cars...visitors...mulchers...painters...the dentist...I feel as though I am being tossed everywhere and life is really distracting! I am almost finished with this book...and I am either being forced to put it down by outside distractions or else I can't focus enough to finish it. I hate that...I love this book! It's strange. It's in the present. It's in the past. It's otherworldly. And...it's supposed to be a trilogy!

I haven't even started this and I really need to!
I really need this cookbook...
A look at some of the recipes...yum!

I never take naps but I really just want to crawl into bed and sleep for a few hours...lol!
These two have the right idea...I am grabbing my book and joining them...I don't care what anyone eats today! Seriously!
Happy Friday!

This Crazy Week Just Goes On And On...

So...we were told that the mulchers were not coming until 1:00 this afternoon...they were here at 7:00 this morning.

Lucy was up and screaming in our ears at 6:01...she was either warning us about the early mulchers or she was starving! Den and Roxie and I sleep much later than Lucy does! And she doesn't really like that we do this.

Once Lucy is up...Roxie begins her routine. They both jump up on our bed...they sit on my hip...they remind us that their little kitty tummies need fuel. Roxie is acquiring all of Lucy's "bad" habits. It's kind of scary...she does everything that Lucy does. Lately they have begun to bicker over who sits the closest to me...it has always been Lucy but Roxie has learned how to annoy her enough to make her move...then Roxie settles into her spot...happily. My two little diva kitties!
This is dinner...buttery sage pan fried pork chops...from a new blog I love called Prairie Horizons...oh...we were busy yesterday so our last stop was Country Butcher and the Produce Patch. I went in for fruits and veg...Den went to get the chops...the stores are side by side...I told Den to just get two boneless pork chops...when I saw the package at home it looked huge...there were four of the thickest most massive chops inside...I could not even get a grip on how to use them...they were as big as steaks and at least two inches tall...so...I sliced one in half to get the size I needed...sliced another one in half to freeze...and froze two of them in their massive state to figure out what to do with later! Yikes!
This recipe for macaroni and cheese was on Facebook and it's from the NYT...you do not precook the pasta before you bake it and it has sharp cheese as well as cottage cheese in it! This will be interesting!
Finally reading this...it's kind of mesmerizing...

"Intelligent, poetic, captivating and chilling…. The mystery at the core of Love is Red is so gripping you will find yourself carrying the book around with you until you’re done.… You will want to re-read it as soon as you’re finished." (Elizabeth Haynes, New York Times bestselling author of Into The Darkest Corner and Under A Silent Moon)

The car was supposed to be a really fast fix...but it is still at the dealer's...
It has seemed like a really long week but it's only Wednesday...plus...I think we are getting company this week end...I can't even think that far ahead! Lol!
Happy Wednesday!

A Too Busy Tuesday!

It's 9:15 at night here and I am just now blogging! We went to our car dealership today because they wanted to fix our "exploded" headrest. About ten service people each took a turn trying to figure out what happened and how to fix it...it's a mystery to them! They ordered an entire new whatever...and it has to go back tomorrow for a total redo. Everyone is calling it a "malfunction". Yikes! They thought it would be a quick fix...but we waited and waited...and waited...I went to the lounge and read...Den had coffee and I think he bought a new car! Lol!

We stopped at one of our favorite places for lunch...

Actually breakfast is served all day long!
I actually finished this at the dealership...YA dystopian fish/amphibian/human creatures saving and destroying the world...or at least Brooklyn...lol! It sounds weird but it was really good!
Next up...from Amazon..." Eight Hundred Grapes is a captivating story about the power of family, the limitations of love, and what becomes of a life's work" (J. Courtney Sullivan, Maine).
Nighty Night!

Monday's Stuff!

Painters are coming to repaint the dormers on our house...the first time they painted in the rain...they painted fast and it all peeled away...so it's a do over!

Yesterday we drove for an hour and a half to a place called Emmaus to a Farmer's Market...it was so crowded we turned around and drove home. The downside of this was Den's headrest exploded! We thought someone threw a brick at our car. The upside was we found a new restaurant for lunch and had an amazing Margarita. The downside was we both had headaches after lunch...we had not eaten all day until the Margarita...can lack of food, an exploding headrest and a Premium Margarita give us both a headache? I bet the answer is a resounding "yes"...

Over the weekend I read these two books...loved this one...three dysfunctional girls/women and snappy dialogue.

Loved this one, too...a provocative mystery about two girls with the same "presumed" dead boyfriend! Yum! We Were Liars was mentioned as a similar book but I didn't see that...
New books! Love new books!
This is the sequel to The Jewel...which I read...
Four sisters who need magic to deal with their mother's illness...
From Amazon..."In the spellbinding and suspenseful Let Me Die in His Footsteps, Edgar Award–winner Lori Roy wrests from a Southern town the secrets of two families touched by an evil that has passed between generations." I think lavender is involved! Lol...
Love this kind of book!

From Amazon..."'A sensitive and sometimes-moving look at a man drowning in the sorrows of his past, with a prickly relationship with his father and with a child who desperately needs to trust someone...A sweetly told tale of fatherhood and loss."and from Kirkus Reviews...
Cakes, pastries, dysfunction...my thing! If Beatriz Williams likes it...I think I will, too!
Seriously craving this with dinner...
Leaving Den with the painters...who are freaking out at how high are roof is...for a manicure/pedicure...sigh!
Peace out! Have a good one!
