Rainy Daze...

It's actually raining today and it's one of those really soft and pretty rains. We even opened some downstairs windows and it feels cool...the rain sounds are really relaxing. Everyone here is mellow today. The girls seem to know that there is no outside deck sitting today so it's really quiet...almost too quiet!

True to my nature I started this...

and then I wasn't in the mood for it so I switched to this...And now it has a grip on me so I am reading it. It connects to a book I read just before this one. It seems as though one of the key characters in this book...
is the sister of a key character in this book...
Elsewhere...
I want to make a Pineapple Upside Down Cake! This one uses fresh pineapple and is from Smitten Kitchen. But...I want the kind my mom made that used canned pineapple, bright red cherries and a box cake...lol!
Most likely I will sauté the pineapple in a bit of butter and brown sugar and we will have it with Greek yogurt on top! Mmmmmmm...
Den was supposed to carve up our fresh pineapple days ago but he is afraid of it!
Man vs pineapple! Who will win?
Off to try to do something productive today!

  1. My mom made the old-school pineapple upside down cake back in the 60s and 70s :)
I wanted to let you know I made the apple cake - so good!!! Thanks! I didn't put the powdered sugar on - it was sweet enough. Now I can't wait for morning when I plan to have another piece with my coffee :D

  3. The Blackthorn Key looks good from the cover. I love when books intertwine- I have come across subtle connections like the ones you mentioned in books and I feel like a detective. :) Hope the cake comes out good!

On another note- the fake Patty didn't end up sending me a message or anything on FB- so that is good. The funniest part is that when I got the friend request I was confused because I have commented on your FB page and vice versa, but then I thought maybe you accidentally deleted me or something and were refriending me. Lesson learned for the future!

    1. Thank goodness! I did not like Fake Patty at all! How dare Fake Patty try to steal my friends! I am so glad nothing happened! I think I was able to block Fake Patty before any real damage occurred!
