Sunday Stuff!!!

Why is it that books about Maine are so appealing to me? We have spent so much time in Maine over the years...so when things that are so familiar to me are mentioned in a book I love...my heart literally jumps up and says...yes! I know that! Tiny blueberries, osprey nests, lobstah, art galleries, Richard Russo books in every book store...ramps and fiddleheads and freezing cold water and rocky beaches and wearing a thick hoodie in the middle of the summer and chowdahs and thick fish soups...yum! Lobster rolls from a long long line at Red's...and so much more! We have eaten these!

I love this book! Quirky characters...lush islands...even a kitty! It was impeccable! Loved every single word! Picture this...an island...no cars...breathtaking views...a ferry...no wifi...a farmer's market on a boat every Monday! Hat parties...plus...the "cottage" is so big it even has a dormitory room and turrets and trunks filled with surprises! And I did mention those quirky yummy characters...Caroline the actress, Lottie the sweet one, Rose the unsettled one, and Beverly...the peckish and sad one...who stole the coffee maker for his room! Oh this book has stolen my Maine loving heart!
With that...I am off to the deck to join Den and the girls!
Happy Sunday!

  2. I love books that are set in familiar places when the author gets that place right.

  4. I've never been to Maine, but I do love books that give me a sense of place. Having said that tho... Maine reminds me of Stephen King Books. LOL Your description makes me think otherwise tho. Have a great evening!
