It's A Mixing Bowl Of Memories!

It feels so good to be with my sister for Mother's Day. We get to talk just a little bit about our mom...we get to rehash shared experiences...I remember her as a toddler...she remembers me as her "big" sister. Our mom dressed us alike for so many occasions. I remember the feel of the dresses...the tiny flowered prints...the ruffles and flounces...and always folded over white sox and shiny strapped shoes that we bought at the Buster Brown shoe store. I remember my sister Paula's soft golden curly hair. We both always had bangs cut crookedly by our mom. I remember holding her hand and walking to the store where she somehow won a massive Sugar Daddy Caramel whatever it was. I remember being allowed to take her to the park and then I lost her...only to discover that a neighbor saw her and took her home...not knowing she was with me. Paula and Patty...Patty and Paula...my mom interchanged our names all of the time. My sister and I learned to ski together on short skis in Cleveland! My mom and I would visit her when she was at Nursing College and we would go to lunch at Cleveland delis. My sister and I shared a room until she left for college and then marriage. I was neat...she was incredibly messy. I could talk her into almost anything...painting all of our bedroom furniture yellow was my brainstorm. OMG! We had matching bikes...pink ones! We both loved Nancy Drew and the Bobbsey Twins and new tablets. When I see my sister Paula...I see some of my mom and dad. When I see my sister Paula...I feel us holding on to our parents and I don't feel so alone any more. I am so glad that I got to spend this time with her.
