A Thoughtful Saturday...

Don't you think there are certain days when you just miss people? Friends, family, places that you left behind or that left you behind? We have had a grueling few weeks...when Den's dad died...memories of my mom and dad and his mom...just seemed to surface. Den talked to his dad a few times a week...one of the worst things about losing aging parents is that you no longer have them to call...there is no need for the check up check in call...so sad...

This is my remembering day...my dad...fisherman, gardener, animal lover...he would do anything to win over Lucy who always only wanted my mom...

My mom...gentle, sweet, funny, fussy...I can still remember how good the sheets in my room smelled...

Den's mom and dad...social, sweet, travelers. Den's mom was an amazing cook...his dad loved deals...the art of the deal was his thing.

The men...helping their dad when he needed them.

My dad...he always told me I was his first love...and he is mine forever.

Peace!

Bits And Bobs!

Can't wait to read these...thank you Amazon Vine!

I cannot wait to read this book...

This one is by the author who wrote One Hundred Summers...which I loved!!!

This one...a lovely fantasy!

Is it sad that I am excited by my new pizza cutter?

Look at this amazing salad from JOYTHEBAKER! There is something about the little piles that appeals to me!

Roxie In A Basket With Bananas! Lol!

Off to eat a yummy turkey sandwich...and then tidy up this house!

Happy Friday!!!

Why I Love Thursday!

Actually...I am not sure!

I used to love it because it was almost the week's end and Friday was always a fun teaching day...but now I love it because potentially it's Pasta Thursday!

These are our "pastabilities" today!

Caprese Baked Pasta from Simply Delicious!

Baked Kale Pasta from Alexandra's Kitchen!

Cheesy Lasagna Bolognese from Brown Eyed Baker!

Or...chicken!

This is a Crispy Oven Fried one from Epicurious! Yum...but I have chatted about pasta so much that Den is kind of counting on it...hmmm!

Books! I am reading NOTHING I thought I would be reading...plus two sort of food themed books in a row that are written about the area where we live. Finished this one...brothers and restaurants.

Started this one...which has references to a town everyone loves around here called New Hope. New Hope has great little quirky shops and inns and bistros...it's so much fun to visit! People from NYC and Philadelphia love New Hope for a close relaxing getaway. I think there is even local theatre there. It's close to Peddler's Village which is the home of Skip's Candy Shop! Once a year when we are there I buy three Mary Janes...that peanut buttery bad for your teeth sticky candy that I have always loved. So...I am really enjoying this book...plus it has recipes!

Off to read and decide about dinner!

Happy Reading!

Wednesday Wishes!

Wish #1...

I wish I did not have to go to the post office...it's rainy and slippy outside and I still have to return the double pair of boots Uggs sent me by mistake...they just billed me for them...between Den's dad and the weather these boots are still sitting in the garage! But it's the fault of Uggs...they are really sorry! Can you believe I have two pairs?

Wish #2...

I wish I did not have to go to the store to get the stuff to make these for dinner.

Wish #3...

I wish Den was at home and not in Florida wining and dining customers at Primo's and Fleming's and telling me how warm and lovely it is and that I should be there. He is on his way home now.

Now he just told me that everyone gets on a big raft and floats all around the interconnecting pools of this hotel.

Wish #4...

I still want these pants...from Eileen Fisher.

Wish #5...my last wish for today!

I wish I really knew what I wanted to read next.

Happy Reading!

Tuesday's Thoughts!

It's not Thursday but...I am really thinking about pasta...ingrained in my head...from my sister Paula and my mom...is having pasta on Thursday!

Look at these!

Baked Spaghetti and Chicken Pasta from Serious Eats!

Spinach Lasagna Roll Ups from Faith From The Kitchn!

Butternut Squash Macaroni And Cheese from Pinch Of Yum! Yum!

Reading this...brothers, restaurant stuff, food, relationships!

Happy Tuesday! We got more snow today!

Monday, February 17, 2014

Marvy Monday!

We have had a two day period without snow...but guess what? We are supposed to get three inches tomorrow...that's Roxie Blue...who spent her first year of life in California and then Florida...doesn't it look like she is mesmerized by the amount of snow out there?

The part of the country where we now live never really gets that much snow...we have had years and years with nary a flake! But not this year!

We are having a slow relaxing day here today...plus I am not reading anything I thought I would read...

Just finished this...my first time with this author although I just read amazing reviews of his first book with the same main character...Abbie...girl detective! I seriously hate reading books out of order but this one was fine as a stand alone. The Hangman...is...of course...a devious deviant fierce serial killer. This book was fast paced...chock full of suspense...and included a surprise ending!

Now I feel the need for something light and refreshing...so...I am reading this...I love the pasta cover! Yum! Brothers, food, love, rival restaurants...double yum!

Den came home Friday with...pink tulips...my faves...until Roxie started nibbling on them and we googled tulips and cats and discovered that they are toxic to kitties. So...they are now on the mantel...way up high! Chocolates and charms rounded out Valentine's Day...so sweet!

It's kind of cold here today...but sunny and beautiful. The snow is sparkly white and the tracks all over the pond are so interesting!

Have a wonderful day!

Sunday Snippets...

Thinking of summer sandals...these are from Free People.

Thinking of summer dresses...this is also Free People.

Thinking of summer tops...this is still Free People.

Just watched the worst movie ever and yet I was strangely oddly drawn to it.

Captivated by this painting...by Den's brother.

Happy Sunday!
