Home! And We Have Power!

We are exhausted...really truly mentally and physically exhausted. All four of us...lol...
we walked into our house to lights on, TV on, and warmth...it's been two days...just two days but we are so tired.

I have to figure out what to do about the refrigerator...stuff in the freezer stayed frozen...but I can't even think about that now...I really truly can't...in most houses in our area...if you don't have power...you don't have water either because the pumps don't work. No showering, no flushing, not a drop to drink. Sigh! We try to keep big bottles of water in the basement but this ice storm took us by surprise...we have a generator but it's not installed yet...my phone wasn't even charged and everything was a total mess.

Sigh!

So...all four of us were off to a hotel...where we had room service and showers and wine and ice cream!

And we watched TV!!! And we read email!!! And all four of us slept in our great big comfy bed in a warm room! Whew!

When we woke up we had more coffee and walked next door to a real live Bob Evans where I had cheesy grits and eggs and toast and Den had pot roast hash with poached eggs. And all of this was 20 minutes away from our house. Amazing!

Lucy Grace and Roxie Blue love Marriott Residence Inns!

Happy Happy Friday!

  1. Glad you're all home safe and warm. I hate power outages! We have a well, so we're two flushes away from no water which is always the most immediate problem. We have a generator that runs pretty much everything, but it takes a while for my husband to hook it up to everything, and costs $60/day in gasoline. Hope you don't have another outage for a long, LONG time!

Did the hotel welcome the kitties? Were they pretty relaxed there? Did Roxie order ice cream and Lucy wine, or was it the other way around?

    1. Mariott Courtyard always takes pets for an additional $100.00...they were both stunned and relaxed at the same time. Lucy ate French Fries...and ice cream!

  9. Oh, I'm glad you had a nice place to wait out the power outage! Glad you could come home again, though, with power....

  11. Wow, Patty! Can't get over how you guys were without power for two days, in the freezing cold. So glad to hear that all four of you spent the two days in a warm and comfy hotel room...you deserve to be warm and comfortable! During the bad hurricane we had abt. 7 yrs ago, we were without power for 3 wks...and the humidity was horrific. I still say freezing cold and no power is still worst than w/o power even for 3 wks in the heat!
Glad to hear you're all safe and back home with power!
