Bye Bye Christmas!

I realized that literally I only put out half of my Christmas Santas, snowmen, reindeer and other stuff this year. It still took the four of us all day to put everything away. Roxie sat in every open bin...Lucy chased every Santa and snowman that we put into bins...and we still haven't touched the tree.

My little helpers!

Here is the winter mantel. My skater man stays up until April. We were sidetracked today by a bird in the fireplace. We didn't know what it was until we heard it coo...it was a pigeon. He was stuck on a ledge inside of the chimney. Den donned safety glasses, stocking cap, garden gloves and flashlight to try to coax him out. I can't tell you how many times we opened the fireplace vent hoping he would just drop down...but he wouldn't. Den used a wooden spoon...my favorite one...to try to coax the pigeon out...finally it worked and he grabbed the pigeon and we released him! So exciting...lol...but my spoon is now stuck on the inside of the chimney! Den promised me as soon as there is sunshine he will retrieve it...he has a plan. Whew!

I am actually reading three books...sort of at one time...which is something I could never do before...

This one is a real book...I just started it...a murder, a trial, a mystery...

This one is on my iPad...but I have the real book, too...sort of about a doctor with three wives...but the doctor is rather dead and two of the wives are just finding out about each other...

And this one I just read on my Kindle Paperwhite. I love this one...it's about a Dystopian society where colors choose your place in society. Reds are at the bottom...they live and work on Mars...they get nothing...Golds are at the top...they get everything. But...Darrow...a Red...is being totally transformed into a Gold...to infiltrate and get power and revenge...I am probably just a quarter into this book.

It is time to relax!

Happy Saturday!

  2. Oh, I had a bird in my woodburning stove (in the foothills), and what a trauma! Eventually it flew out.

Love your mantle...and I hope you're loving Apple Tree Yard. I'll be reading A Circle of Wives this coming week.
