Bears, Books, And Pies...Oh My!

The local news here keeps breaking into the Today Show because there is a bear in someone's back yard. They are giving far too many updates...I just want the bear to be ok...and everyone else, too...but especially the bear. Poor bear!

Loving this book...it's the perfect dysfunctional family book. Each chapter highlights a different off balance character...family, friends, aunts, uncles...we see it all! It's terrific! I am drowning in the most perfectly flawed characters! There's financial trouble, insecurity, anorexia, overprotective mothers...it's got it all! And I don't dislike any of them...I am rooting for their wellness!

I am in a pie baking mood...which is quite odd because I don't really know how to make them. Cooking blogs lately have been filled with pie pictures! Look at this savory one from...The Kitchn...roasted tomato and goat cheese...yum!

Then this coconut one from Food 52...

This could be dinner! But only if I can use refrigerated premade pie dough!

Buona Lettura!

  1. I could make that goat cheese one without the crust and it would still be good.

  3. I am addicted to things with coconut! lol

Loved The Smart One, too...and did you pick your Vine books? I'm getting Let Me Go, by Chelsea Cain (the thriller series); and Rose Harbor in Bloom, by Debbie Macomber.

  4. There have been a lot of bear stories, especially coming out of New Jersey...I'm with you, I'm rooting for the bear! Poor things...they have to live SOMEWHERE. They can't help it if people keep building and encroaching on their territory. It's so sad....

I think of the bear too! We have had a lot of sightings nearby recently and one of the bears was shot. :(
