We played in the leaves...otherwise known as yardwork...I made a cake from scratch...one layer of yellow cake...with our favorite icing in the world...Duncan Hines can o' chocolate...it's the kind my mom always made...lol!

We are catching up on DVR'd shows...our faves...The Great Food Truck Race, Shark Tank, Life After Top Chef and Project Runway!

Reading and loving this...it is sort of like Harry Potter only dare I say better? More wit, more sarcasm and more crazy! I love this book!

Jackson Keene Giveaway!

Thanks to the author and publisher...I have a copy of this book to give away!

I read it earlier this week and loved it...here is a quick summary from the publisher!

TJ’s just an ordinary fourteen year old kid with extraordinary problems at home and school: A broken up family from his parents’ bitter divorce, evil bullies almost every afternoon, failing grades, boring classes, snobby girls, mean teachers, cut from basketball tryouts, few friends.
Life is rough for TJ Cockrell.
And then that mysterious little green book had to go and throw him into the past. And not just any past, but into the untamed forbidding forests of 1802 eastern Tennessee along with the savage Indians, wild beasts, bloodthirsty robbers, backwoods ruffians, and log cabin living! Yup, it’s definitely not 2011 Knoxville anymore.
And he thought his present life was bad news! But TJ’s adventures are only beginning. Along the way, he fights off killer beasts and bandits and braves, meets the young Davy Crockett, gains a world of confidence in himself, finds his first real love, and is befriended by a fantastic frontier family who really has it together.
When he returns to the present, he’s a brand new person––but there's killers loose in his house, bullies waiting to beat him up at school, a pretty new girl at Highland High he's hasn't even seen yet. And the aftermath of the little green book to deal with!

All you have to do to enter is comment!

How easy is that?

Tonight is date night...we are off to...The Columbus Inn! It's an amazing lovely old old old structure...now a hot night spot!

Happy Friday!

Book Report!!!

Whew!

Finally finished this...and I must say the last 150 pages were yummy...except for one thing...grrrr...can't reveal it but totally unnecessary for this animal lover!
Double grrrr...

Just finished this...not my usual kind of book...definitely middle grades to adult...who really cares if you are a grown up and love kid books...anyway...
It was really good! A sort of travel back in time book with the main character a boy who is bullied, sad, lost and lonely. He finds a little green book...opens it and is in 1802 Tennessee! Davy Crockett, Cherokee, lots of bad guys and houses that look like Laura Ingalls Wilder's house. And...the book was his dad's...anyway...I loved it!

Now...I have no clue what to read next...there is no rhyme or reason to what I am choosing...I love it!

I am leaning toward this one because I read fab reviews about it.

Or one of these!

As of this minute...I remain undecided...I am taking a break and watching Supernatural...yikes!

Wednesday's Snippets!

Ok...so I am not really sure what a snippet actually is...but I like the sound of it...truly I do...

Snippet # 1...my favorite pumpkin!

Snippet # 2...my favorite new top...came yesterday!

Snippet # 3...this week's sandwich...cheese and pickle!

Den used to work for a British company so we went to London all of the time...my
brother is in London...which gave me a craving for my favorite tea sandwich...very sharp cheddar cheese and a dab of Branston Pickle on coarse whole grain bread. Yum!
Luckily we can find Branston Pickle here.

Snippet # 4...still reading this! This is just not like me at all!

Snippet # 5...

I ended up cooking yesterday anyway because my lovely car wasn't ready...the car guys found a crack in the wiper fluid thing so they had to order in a new one...so last night's Mexican food is happening tonight...they make a house made Margarita mix so...Ole everyone!

Happy Wednesday!

It's The "I Got Books" Issue!

I can not believe I am still reading this...and it's because I refuse to not finish it. I think that there is a good story in this book...and some scary stuff...but it's that era that I strongly dislike...everyone is frantically doing the Charleston, drinking hootch, and living their lifeski! Enoughski! Pleaseski?

I bought some yummy Kindle books! I needed them!

I got some more yummy books from Edelweiss and NetGalley and Amazon Vine...but I am only showing one from each...for today!

I think I am a book magnet!

It is raining here today and I am waiting for Ron Dixon The Amazing Plumber Man...so I am going to finish The Diviners ASAP!

No cooking today...how sad...just teasing...my car has to get inspected and made road ready for our Maine Jaunt...and the best Mexican food ever is near it so Den is bringing home dinner!

I think I feel like my mom used to feel when she closed the kitchen for the day!

Monday!

Sometimes I want to shout out my love for Mondays! I use them to hunt, gather, and restore...it's my day to put some of the randomness of the week end back in order. It's my catch up day for laundry and some random house chores...Den, Lucy and I are all so neat that nothing really gets disordered but I try to focus on something that needs to be done. I am so good at light housekeeping and so bad with deep cleaning.

I need help with that!

I do change out certain paintings, pillows, and other things for each season...seashells, Maine paintings, pillows, quilts...are being exchanged for pumpkins and other things. I have a huge collection of pumpkins and this is the only time of year where I shout out my hidden love for all things orange!

Yeah orange!

Random baby pumpkins...

Front door pumpkins...I have a pumpkin front door wreath being made...

Scarecrows! A girl and a boy! Patty and Den!
It's the bulletin board thing that certain teachers never outgrow...I love orange construction paper pumpkins!
With a passion!

Pumpkin Kitty Quilt!
Can you tell I love primitives?

Still reading this...I have to say I am not loving it...Evie...main antagonist...is sort of grating on my nerves...I think I don't like this era of flappers and I hate the way she talks...absotootely...lifeski...everythingski...and this is a book I bought!!!

Happy October First!

Sunday...Waffle Day!

Surprise, Den! Lol...

By the time I put dry ingredients in one bowl...wet in another...whip the egg whites separately...and make waffles one at a time...whew...

breakfast is exhausting!

But the result is one happy Dennis!

And way too many extra waffles!

Lucy Grace is a pirate! OMG!

Still reading...

Slowly sorting through bins of October things...I do love pumpkins! These are all made from chenille.

Happy Sunday!
