Bloggers And Titles And Emails...Oh My!!!

Today I opened my email to find a note from a blogger telling me that she was wondering if I copied her blog title.  Of course...since in my mind no one but me could be clever enough to come up with my blog title...I am teasing, of course, please forgive me...I thought... what is she talking about!!!

Then she said she was a little upset about my title...so...as a relatively new blogger...I am seeking advice from all of my new blogger buddies...should I be upset by this?  I mean obviously I am...but I can't exactly determine why I am upset.  For me...personally...I looked at her blog and it is nothing like mine...although we both read some YA Fantasy.  I also did some research to see if there were other clever bloggers out there who also were stuck on the phrase from the Wizard Of Oz...Lions and Tigers and Bears, Oh My...and it seems as though I am not as clever as I think I am...there are tons of blogs out there with that pattern in their blog titles...her blog title is not the same as mine, either...it is basically that darn oh my pattern...I welcome clever thoughts, ideas and comfort...oh my!!!

  1. I wouldn't be too concerned. The title of my blog comes from a Groucho Marx quote and is duplicated by a number of other bloggers. As a new blogger, I didn't know that. And now that I am more established, I don't care. I feel that I distinguish myself by my content. I am sure you do too. Happy blogging!

  2. I've seen the other blogger's blog (only because you showed me the link), and you have nothing to worry about, Patty. They're not even close to the same thing. So what if the title is close. So are hundreds of others. And most of the time, we don't even remember the name of the blog. Just the blogger and the great (or not so great) contents. ;)

  4. I wouldn't worry about it. It's not like you copied something that was trademarked. I know for sure there are several blogs I read that have similar titles. In fact I read two that have identical titles.

  6. What?!? You mean that line came from the Wizard of Oz? I thought it was from the old Mel Gibson movie, Lethal Weapon! LOL...LoL...I swear that's where I first heard it! LOL...LOL..this is too funny. I was wondering why so many people were "borrowing" the line from that movie. Duh! Well I certainly learned something today! Thanks Patty.

  7. I say don't worry about it. There are several blogs that have the same titles as other blogs and I'm sure none of them are copycats - why in the world would anyone do that?

  8. I think that blogger was just trying to be nitpicky. As if they're the only one that's going to play on such a well-known quote and only they have the right to do it. I wouldn't worry.

  13. No big deal, really. Just continue to write about what you feel is relevant & let her do the same.
